I got today my first 18V dewalt pack.

impressive, but HARD TO DISSASSEMBLE!!!

The BMS is very small and only use 3 wire to communicate with the charger.. probably a serial signal.

here are some pics i took:

Interesting. I take it that is a 5s2p arrangement? Would be interesting to find out whether they did the parallel connections between cells first, and then the series string, or whether it is two strings tied together in paralell at the ends.

They're claiming 18V / 2.4Ah, so does that mean the cells are only 1.2Ah each?

Very nice Doctor, I like the bms, we can play around with it. Five cells must be wired in parallel with the other five.I wonder why they used different cells? i thought they would use 5 of the 36v cells packs 16.5v and call it 18v.

The fact that we have to solder extra cells really doesn't help us. Maybe they would fit better inside my front
battery hub? Are they longer than the white ones? they almost look the same length.

You like molesting battery packs don't you Doctor Bass. I have never seen a person as obsessed as you with batteries. I bet that you have batteries in bed with you and next to the toilet. Dude, you might want to see a Shrink. Quit playing with all those batteries! Its not healthy!

Have you forgotten on what forum you are on? :wink:

You mean to tell me you don't have a DVM in your bathroom like the rest of us ? :shock:

:lol:

Woah, I thought it had the large cells! I got 2 of the 28v models, they had large cells. Wonder why they did this?

Excellent photos!

The smaller cells may allow higher C discharge with less internal heat damage.

FWIW, I had my DMM surgically implanted, so now I just stick my probe anywhere, anytime. :mrgreen:

Thanks for appreciations guys :wink:

searching with : APR18650M1A
i found :http://brchobbies.com/?page=shop&item=478 Where they clain 30C discharge!!!!

here are their specs:
Specs:
* Capacity: 1100mAh
* Nominal voltage: 3.3V
* Weight: 39g
* Length: 64.9mm
* width: 18.2mm
One rather strange thing. The can is negative while the button is positive, just the oposite of the A123 2300 mAh cells we have been using

And from RC universe:

I will test that soon
