I'm building an ebike with a grin all axle motor and I'm trying to choose a winding now. I want to be able to push 1000 watts and go 30mph like the bafangs with a 48v battery, but my cruising speed is usually 15mph on the sidewalk and bike lanes. it comes in 5t 6t and 8t windings, and it looks like the 8t likes going 15mph and the others like going 20+ as far as efficiency. The bike is a 27.5 rigid frame.
My question is should i choose the 8t to suit my normal speeds or go for the 6t and 5t fast wind for the ability to go faster? reddit came up with a lot of people with qs205 motors in 5t and they liked them. thanks ✌️❤️

I'd email grin and ask. I've got an AA v3 but a very different use case - 20" long tail cargo bike wheel. Standard winding easily goes 25mpn with a load.

thanks i will ask them. they recommend the slow winding for 26+ on the website. But i was just wondering what other people do because ai and Reddit said 5t is good for 29 inch wheels and the inefficiency is negligible.
