Hall Sensor Type for Crystalyte HT35 Hub Motor??

Hey all,

I had a hall sensor go bad in my HT35 hub yesterday morning. Figured out which sensor is bad, got the motor apart but... I can't tell what kind of hall sensors these are. Any information that's on them is covered in gunk/epoxy.

I've read that they use Honeywell SS413 sensors but 1. I can't find these anywhere (that would take less than a month to ship to the US) and 2. I can't seem to find any information in English, so I don't know what to ask for at a local electronics store.

I know almost nothing about hall sensors except for their basic function. If I were to go into an electronics store, what would I ask for (in terms of specs, size, etc)?

Also, should I use any special type of solder? Special wire sleeves? I know it gets hot in there... And I have been searching for instructions on this but haven't really found any good ones. If I've missed a link somewhere, could someone share it with me?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

This should help.

I used regular heat-shrink on my motor, it doesn't get too ho in there so you don't have to worry about any special type of solder or heat-shrink.

Oh ok, good. I'll just use the heat-shrink I already have then :)

I've been told to go with SS41 sensor. I see one on Amazon that I can have here by tomorrow but it's actually SS41F. Do you (or anyone else) know what the difference is between the SS41 and SS41F?

Will that SS400 series (in the link you provided) fit the HT35 though? Same shape and size? Item image doesn't look to be the same shape but I know that's just a rendering (of probably a standard hall effect sensor).

I've been calling around to electronics stores and amazingly, none of them sell Hall Effect Sensors :| Like... none of them. Out of ~14 stores I've called so far. Of course half of all stores are closed today because it's Boston and Boston doesn't do weekends apparently -_-

I have a bag with SS411A and the package does not match with the render, they taper off at the top like a trapezoid.

From the little research I've done I can't really see a difference between A and F sensors. There are some different types but it only affects the leg shape.

The only important thing really is that they are bipolar latching magnetic sensors in the TO-92 package, maybe if you ask just for any off brand sensor you might get lucky if you are looking locally or on Amazon.

You're saving me here. This was a tremendous help and I can't thank you enough :) Really appreciate the help! Hope some other people in the same situation find this helpful as well.

Thanks again!!
