Handling the fallout from Covid-19

I had figured Canadians to be smarter than that. Is it just western Canadians acting like idiots, or is the whole country cruising for a bruisin' like Florida and Texas?

Quebec and Ontario are way worse!

If you want to read up on the info behind the big report issued today and totally misrepresented by CNN, etc., you can jump right in. What I get out of it is things are going about as expected, contrary to what CNN would have you believe. The simple version I take to be that all of what we've done was only expected to add maybe 3 months to the time it would take for the virus to peak. The assumption being we're supposed to hope for a vaccine by then.

Ah, is there any of the antibody treatments officially going to market, yet?

i think western canadians might actually do some research and realised this is a big con job, im not positive but i think more people died from drowning this month than covid in Ontario.

hows the death toll? infections are through the roof

i got a little worried when that motorcyclist was declared a covid death from the crash.

i was afraid to ride my bike because in Africa the papayas were contracting covid and thought maybe bikes were too

in 2018 1.8million died of tuberculosis, if you ever shouldve been told to wear a mask, it was then buuuuut i think only the TB people wouldve been wearing them.

im done

Whats new in CNN misrepresenting news, nothing new there. Should be called FNN instead of CNN, Fake News Network.

This was worse, they took a report that LOOSELY said (For the sake of brevity) all this social distancing and masks only adds maybe 90-120 days to the time it takes to peak and wrote this article that instead said this should end the problem altogether. 180 degrees from the real report.

Couple that with a video I watched because a guy in the group riding that morning was saying he and his kids had worn their masks and sat around blowing out candles, etc., I get a whole new perspective on the matter. This video explained why in 2009 during the H1N1 hoax they were pointing out the masks would be ineffective at best and spread the disease more at worst, yet they might still see some value in them today.

Masks don't work the way the public thinks they do. As they've warned, the tiny virus can go right through, but can also collect on the mask itself. Real medical personnel learn to not touch the mask and to wash their hands if they do, but the rest of us are like Mr. Gruber and think since we can't touch our nose it saved us and in fact the hands are now contagious for whatever was on the mask and the mask is breeding ground for whatever was on the hands. Medical people know when the mask is blocking and when it's leaking, the public doesn't. It works out to even that N95 might be 25% as effective on the average person as on a medic.

On the other hand, effectiveness is nonlinear. If you make someone's breath 90% as contagious, it's like 90% of 90%, so you're getting 19% improvement out of 10% containment. I was thinking they made the point that's a representation and not literal numbers, but they gave numbers like that themselves.

When a person coughs or sneezes, it can spread as much as 20 feet in front in a straight tunnel, rather than dispersing as you might expect. So it's a cloud not much bigger than when it left the face and more than half has stayed together. Close to as much escapes the mask, but most goes to either side out of the edges of the mask and less out the front for less than that 20 feet. Thus minimizing the effectiveness of any one cloud, though making at least some exposure even more likely. This report didn't get into it, but I remember months ago they were saying a little bit of this wouldn't hurt you, you needed a big exposure. And letting it breed and grow on the mask increased your chances, because you don't change masks the way the medicals do.

https://journals.plos.org/plosmedicine/article?id=10.1371/journal.pmed.1003166

That's the abstract of the report. You'll probably understand that better than the full report anyway. Contrary to CNN's claims, they said "We estimate that short-term government-imposed social distancing that is initiated early into the epidemic can buy time (at most 7 months for a 3-month intervention) for healthcare systems to prepare for an increasing COVID-19 burden." CNN said the report said it would END the corona virus altogether if people would just do this, even though people ARE doing it. (What world has CNN moved to in recent years?)

Typical for CNN aka FNN

What masks? N95/99 KN masks, medical masks or cloth masks. There was talk over having masks fit snuggly.

Masks don't work the way the public thinks they do. As they've warned, the tiny virus can go right through, but can also collect on the mask itself. Yeah I heard that too, not to touch mask, and wash the cloth home made masks.

On the other hand, effectiveness is nonlinear. If you make someone's breath 90% as contagious, it's like 90% of 90%, so you're getting 19% improvement out of 10% containment. Well, my motto is stay the frock away from people the best I can. But I still slack off on N95 mask wearing, grocery store, but I do soak my hands in sanitizer that smells like Vodka and brings me back to my college days.

Yeah thats one thing I try and do is stay/seat BEHIND people for when they sneeze Noticed that the first time I started to take the bus during covid19

CNN is good for a laugh and thats about it. Too paritsan.

I saw a few medical people on TV wearing two masks, I started doing that when taking the train. N95 then a cloth mask. The first month I would bring my own Lysol and paper towel to sanitize my seat on the train. People looked at me weird, but at that time I did not see any employee's washing down the train. Only in the last month have I seen employees washing things down. Its a concern. What I would love to see is having the employee's which is outsourced for cleaning, have 3 of them at the end of the line, and for the 4 or 5 minutes the train driver moves seats, clean clean clean clean clean. Ideally 6 people, 2 per train cart. Another thing thats odd, they can use 4 train cars, but they decide to only use 3. Very odd.

Maybe I should start having some FUN with masks.

Don't walk into a bank with that on completely covering your face or walk straight towards an armored guard transfering money. I know one time I heard a guy by the doors of a grocery store say to the armored guard transffering money, dont get robbed now you hear. Which is true, its just another way of saying stay safe now you hear.

if your desperate, you can use your underwear for a face mask but remember what grandma said,
never leave home with dirty underwear

I don't want comedy, I want drama. Maybe a desert sheik regalia.

Holding up the stagecoach is now a safer occupation.

Your alcoholic father should have taught you a lesson but you are too naive and ignorant to learn. GOOD luck snowflake.

MY dad? DRINK? Such ignorance on your part. To be expected. He'd be proud of me. Not just for my abstinence but for my patience with the likes of you, which he NEVER showed.

Ah well, why bother with you when I'm off to see. . . .

(I could post a picture of the actress she resembles, but no, not really her.)

NOW you want to shake hands with Nancy Pelosi. You'll have to go to her. I don't know if the speaker gets Secret Service protection, if she does youwalkrightpastthem when you've been drinking.

So maybe we really DO get to have a Renaissance.

No ones benefiting from covid, except a few sectors. Local bicycle shops started out gang busters but there is literally no stock in any stores for the last while. Pawn shops were getting all their cash out of the bank to be ready for the line ups at their door, free government money and pawn shops werent busy at all.

Unemployment DOWN?

Such an odd combo. You smoke and drink bourbon, you will need health care and ppe.
City officials chalk that up to its biggest employers: health care providers, bourbon and tobacco producers, and makers of personal protective equipment.

There's the concept of Vice Investing. If your recession investments are tobacco, alcohol, etc. you can expect to do well at that time. I wouldn't think gambling could do well this time around, but that usually is one of the 'Sin Stocks.'

But not such an odd combo when you realize the healthcare is right there where the bourbon and cigarettes are.

So LA has a mayor who is all in for 'Defund the Police,' etc. anything that suits his virtue signaling. The Hypocrisy is best illustrated in his saying he's sending the police to break up private parties. And the cops are saying "NO!"

Or since protesting is in: "Hell, NO,we won't GO!"
