Helical Cut Geared Hub Motors ?

Q100 series is one stage helical cut, one stage straight cut using nylon gears.

It's noiser than a direct drive, but not by much.

Edit: Hard to see in the photo, but you can see the smaller top gears are straight cut, and the bottom set of gears are helical cut.

The Bafangs - their major competitors are all straight cut gears.

Xiongda 2-speed is my first pick at the moment, however just checking that I didn't miss any new ones.
Looks like I did are there any specs on the new MXUS?

+1 for XiongDa 2 speed being quiet. It sounds like a gentle woosh rather than a whine. Rather pleasant and disappears over 15 mph due to wind noise. Great little motor. Low speed is a bit noisier but you wouldn't use it much except for real steep (over 5%) hills and then only up to 8 mph. This with 20" wheels. Faster in 26" and above.

I have been searching for a link to a site where they sell kits with this Xiongda motor laced into a wheel. Did I miss it somewhere here on the forum? Or does anyone have one (or more) they could share?

Thanks for any help.

What length spokes do I order to lace a Xiongda to a 26-inch wheel? does it vary by the model of rim? Whats a good alloy double-wall rim and should I use a 2-cross pattern? I am open to whatever works, I have no preferences...

You have to know the ERD of the rim before you calculate the spoke length. The ERD is often published by the manufacturer for branded rims. Don't take too much notice of them on Ebay listings or Chinese sites. Every time I've used those, they've been wrong. Now I always wait 'til I've got the rim to check the ERD before I order the spokes. You can measure the inside diameter and add 5mm, which will get you close enough.

Once you have the ERD, you need the flange dimensions from the motor, then you enter them and the ERD into this spoke calculator. You can leave all the other parameters:
