Great build!
Seems a bit much power for such a small kart but must be huge fun riding it.
Maybe fit larger and wider (ATV) wheels and tires for even more traction and off road ability?

Thanks SlowCo. The power feels about right for my taste. Atm the batteries are the limiting factor.

I too had my doubts about those tires but I gave them a good run in the dirt yesterday and I think I'll keep using them...

Update. I had a tire blow out...

Long story short, I have different tires on the back and one of the wheels is a split rim that I made from 2 whole rims...

... and so far it seems to be holding up

This is awesome! I used to have a go cart in high school. It looked like this…



…a kid stole it and ran it into the river. The frame is probably too weak, but I’d love to convert something like this.

I like how you masked all the wires. Looks great!

How do you charge the batteries?

Thanks slaphappygamer. Sorry to hear of your troubles with the local kids.

Charging is easy. The batteries I bought are supplied with a charger each and have a separate plug for charging. Battery balancing is done via the built in BMS (battery management system) so the charge plug is small and basic.

Funny you should say that...

I have another one in the works (converting to electric). It's longer and beefier but unfortunately not wider. Down the track I might do some redneck engineering to make it wider... see how it goes

After this run yesterday I was commuting home on the footpath when a cop came up behind me. After some questions he suggested I trailer my kart to my destination in future and let me go

Relatable story.

At about 2AM, me and my buddies took our go-karts to the mall. These were 2 stroke Briggs and Stratton motors. About 2HP. Turns out that the middle of the night is when the sprinklers go off for the landscaping. We saw the puddles of water all over this vacant mall parking lot, which had slick asphalt. Since the best ideas hatch at the middle of the night, we went full throttle towards the puddles of water. Then cut the wheel as hard as we could. Donut city. I stayed in the donut, then the kart started to hop slightly. Well, after enough hopping, the outer wheels must’ve “caught” dry asphalt and I flew from the kart. This was a while (30years) ago and a helmet and seat belt were not required. No roll cage. Also I was much younger, so I was invincible. I didn’t get hurt and walked back to the kart to continue to ride.
