Hello to anyone that can help!

I recently tried to grease up my Bafang BBS02, but when I tried to reach the Nylon Gear near the controller I realized that it was more complicated than I anticipated. Instead of diving any deeper, I decided to just put the motor back together. When I tried to test out the motor, it wouldn't start and the C961 display showed "error 8" at the bottom of the screen. What can I do?

All connectors seated properly?

Apologies for jumping in on your thread/post Nekkhahki
Although not a BBS02 the 01 still presents the same issues and and the same repairs needed, so rather then start a new thread thought it as well to add to this thread for simplicity.
Yesterday I had 08 failure with BBS01 whilst out on a off road ride, we know from Bafang this is a Hall sensor related issue but the failure isn't specific in detail. If it is a failed Hall then that is likely to be in the motor line assembly or if it is a wiring issue could be on the controller side. Looking through the threads it appears not to be a common fault.
The simple bit of removing /looking for a wire fault/connection at the controller isnt't an issue.
I assume replacing the controller may not be the answer as surely any Hall sensor is likely to be located in the motor assembly where the magnet/magnets are placed to sense the Halls.
So my question is how easy is it to dismantle the bbs unit and has any one had a go and can provide details to delve deeper in to these.

Thanks Jon , yep I have seen D8veh's thread.
More info on my issue, I'm fairly sure that it is a bad connection as the error yesterday appeared on and off 4 or 5 times before I lost all power with throttle and pas. Recollecting this morning the first sign of the error code was after I had climbed a rough flint laden gully so possibly the white connector has jiggled apart slightly.
This morning before disconnecting and removing the bbs unit I wired it up to a lipo and all was working on throttle and pas, so looks like I can rule out a faulty controller this current one is already a replacement.
Sometime over the weekend I will undo the controller and carefully check the hall connector as I remove it.

I could not find any wiring issue on removing the controller and can only assume I had a poor connection on the white hall connector, I removed all silicone form the surrounding area and reconnected everything. A recent bumpy mud laden 13 mile off road ride went well and no sensor error re-occurred so hopefully all is ok.
