Well I currently have a cheapy walmart special, and I kind of like it. I have replaced a few things here and there.

For those of you that have motors on good bikes do you really think there is a big difference??

I original made an Ebike to get up in the mountains for hunting and gold panning but I enjoy riding, and have been riding on the road. I am thinking about upgrading to a better bike but am not sure if it would be worth it?? I ride for excerise and use the motor when I get tired of riding.I am not in it for commuting or all out speed (but WOT is really fun  ).

What are good high end donor bikes?? Would you get a high end bike over a cheapy walmart bike??

my first ebike was a cheapo schwinn hardtail. i liked it. the front rim and fork died from the stress even though it was a rear motor. but the rest of the componants held up well, and a few got reused on my second bike.

the second was a high end Downhiller. its full suspension with air shocks, 8 inches of travel, and can easily survive jumping off the roof of a house, so I bearly notice pot holes.

the third bike was made out of scraps and left overs from building and fixing bikes for freinds and other projects.

So whats better?
which ever one I'm riding. :D

I will add that I hate cheap suspension bikes. they feel like pogo sticks to me. but a cheap hardtail is great.

i discuss the issues involved in bike choice at some length on the first few pages of my "Seattle commuter bike" build thread:
