Ok guys i can say i have officially started my build i have committed to the
http://shop.ondamotion.com/onda-longa board (purchased)

https://www.aliendrivesystems.com/store, motor mount. (will purchase)

http://diyelectricskateboard.com/product-category/wireless-wii-nunchuck/ (will purchase)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151395749365?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT - will this puly work and what do i need on the motor to get the best balance of torque and speed.

my target is 20mph, 10 - 15 mile range

so my question is based on my above speed and range requirement what do you guys recommend for battery, esc

I am doing similar. Bought an Onda Longa and Ebay kit from Greece.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Transmission-System-Electric-Conversion-Onda-Longa-Mammoth-Skateboard-Longboard-/191523909155?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item2c97b6ee23

FYI. I don't think they make the kit until its purchased. Takes about a month to deliver. Hopefully it's worth the wait.

I am building regular board from DIY and will use the motor/controller to test the setup.

The Onda board is about 12 pounds stock so a total eboard would be 16 or 17 pounds. Curious to find out what config would meet the performance goals your after.

Hey guys, I don't have any experience with Onda boards but as far as your build goes try useing this formula:

In this example I have a 10s battery, 245kv motor, 2.44 gear ratio (44T/18T), and 83mm wheels

(37v) * 245kv * (1/2.44) * (0.083m * pi) * (1 / 60) * 3.6 = 57.9kph (36mph)

Remember, just because the max speed is 36 mph, doesn't meant hat you have to go full throttle 24/7

Also, lowering your gear ratio towards 2 increases speed but decreases torque. Inversely, raising your gear ratio towards 3 increases torque but decreases speed.

Hope it helps, good luck with the builds!

Nice to see more Onda board being thunderbolted

Seems like you don't have much choice if you go with that kit :
- Even with a "low voltage" battery like 6s and "low kV" motor like 150kV,
and the highest reduction ratio he proposes, your top speed will be something like 35mph
- while 6s 5Ah battery allows to reach 10 miles range on flat, you might need to ride gently to reach 15 miles

I'm also in de process of building an e-Onda Longa. I used the following parts:
Motor: SK3-6374 192kV
ESC: HW-EZRUN 150A
Batteries: 2 3S Turnigy 5000mAh 20C in series, creating 6S 5000mAh
Pulleys: HTD5 9mm, 14T on motor and 60T on wheels, sourced from http://www.beltingonline.com

I recommend a 60T pulley on the wheel because this size will fit the standard mounting holes on the onda wheels. If you go smaller you will have to find another way to mount the pulley to the wheel. Also with this pulley you have a great range of possible gear ratio's.

If my calculations are right, I should be able to reach about 20 mph with awesome torque.

I fabricated an adjustable motor mount from 2 10mm strips of aluminium with a jigsaw, drillpress, file and a lot of elbow grease

Haven't tested it yet, but if the weather lets me I will do a test run this weekend...

Hey Welcome mvisser ! what about showing us more in a specific topic ?

I get that number too with my calculations

I can only agree : the chance we have with the Onda board is their huge wheels : you can make a significant reduction ratio and go for higher kV motors (for a given top speed) ...which are cheaper than low kV motors

An option might be to ask this "turbobikekit.com" ES member (the one selling that kit on e-bay) to offer smaller motor sprocket / bigger wheels sprocket ?

EDIT :
2.86 possible according to:

Question

Which do you recommend

do you recommend a higher KV motor (which one) i am looking for good torque and 20mph
