I think you are overcomplicating simple things. A little like you want to eat cake and have it. E-bikes are different than bikes. Don't fight it... embrace it.

If I were you I would buy used hybrid on Ebay or Facebook and convert it with small rear hub motor + medium battery with good cells. You want to arrive at work rested and fresh. That is what e-bikes are for.
You might be right. I just really enjoy the feel of my Jamis.
 
Yeah i'd call that 100CST rear the better motor. Higher gear reduction is promising.

I've never seen these in complete wheels. They would be worth getting a local bike shop to help you spoke one to a rim.

I know what you mean... but yet again e-bikes are different. You must add weight and change things.

For more natural feel use KT controller or add torque sensor.

Talking about PSWpower and the TongSheng middrive? They do have an inventory of TSDZ2B kits that dropship from a US location. Shipping is $10 on top of a $255 price. Add sales tax. It's under $290 for a TSDZ2B when they're in stock. They might knock off $10-14 when China's 11/11 sales holiday comes up,

I bought one two years ago. Installed the 3rd party firmware on it. Transforms the bike a lot. Moves the torque sensor power band lower for old geezers like me who cannot pedal hard, It's half the electrical power of a BBS02B, but more fun for slower riding in my opinion.

There have been some reliability issues on this motor. Mine had an internal clutch start intermittently slipping after 1600 miles (last week), but it went away after I re-lubed the bearing. Too early to tell if that was the issue. I'd have no problem buying another one for myself. For someone with few mechanical skills or inclination, I wouldn't recommend it.

I will have to double check but there is a possibility my dropout is size 130 mm in rear. Would that work? (More questions coming over time if you don’t mind.)

My front fork is carbon so that’s why I’m assuming I can only use a rear hub, otherwise I would consider front. Unless I’m wrong.

I've bought the freewheel Q100H version since it's slightly wider and has more torque on paper. Built four bikes with 20" wheels running this motor. BMSbattery sells it spoked up in a rim for only about $20 dollars more, but they also $100 to the shipping. I bought my own parts and laced all of them myself. Didn't save any money, but I have Sapim spokes,name brand rim, and a better wheel in my opinion. I've seen one picture of one of their complete wheels posted by a customer, and it had radial spokes. Awful!

Good little motor. No complaints. Have put over 5000 miles on two of them.

Have run on them 40V Ryobi weedwhacker packs too,

Front or Rear wheels are both available.
Front fork width:min.100mm. Rear fork width:min.135mm. A little difference is fine. Attached spacer and washer can solve it.
Dropout is 10mm to fit the hub axle.
Our rear hub fits 7-speed freewheels. If your flywheel is Cassette type. No worry. Cost over USD $10 you can get one.
Or yours is 8-speed,9-speed. Also you have to get freewheel.

If I end up only electrifying one of my bicycles. I would probably do so with my 16” wheel folder. It has a chromoly frame with a chromoly fork. I would think that a front ehub install would be the easiest to deal with. If I recall correctly I measured that to 100 mm. Unless you suggest a rear conversion instead.

Would my folding bicycle work with your kit?

Thank you for that. You’re on the top of my list now. So what kind of battery would I use? Something from the hardware store for a lawnmower? Just trying to understand the system well enough and it gives you a sales pitch opportunity.

Commomly foldable is 406 20inch 20x1.5.
Yours is 16inch. We can hardly to find the rim to do wheel-built.
The 20inch wheel just completed by user DIY last night. F.Y.I.

For a patchwork kit, I would recommend Grin. I think they are quite professional. However, if you don’t mind the expensive cost of replacing the battery in the future, you can consider it.

We design and develop our own controllers and motors, and use our own software to adjust them, unlike those patchwork kits purchased on Taobao. The motors and controllers of those kits are all standard specifications, just like wearing a uniform.

Additionally, I have reservations about custom e-bike conversion kits offered by personal workshops. While there may be great handmade items in them, customization means only the original maker can perform repairs. If the person cannot be found one day, maintenance becomes an issue.
 
I think it was mentioned the 16” wheels if electrified would be great hill climbers. I may just mid drive or front ehub the folder. It is chromoly. Use it as commuter. Would the mid drive interfere with the seatpost going all the way through when folding?
