Why do ppl continue to buy or try to buy those cheap HK stuff. Especially lifepo4 from HK. They are not worth the hassle no matter how low the price is.
Take a look at 18650cells from samsung or LG instead.

51,8V 12,5Ah -> 15s5p
The cells are rated for over 10C!
At around 5USD per cell the battery cost is about 375USD, than of course you need a lot of work building it.
Think about the weight also, with Li-ion 18650 cells the pack will be 3750gramms (8.2pounds) compared to 6288gramms(13.8pounds) with a Lifepo pack.

FWIW, it's out of stock. HK leaves the page up for years, on things they will never stock again.

I can't get them 18650's for anything like $5 though. I'm seeing double that. Four times the cost. Even if they lasted 4 times as long and were not a load of work I would still rather buy in increments of $165 incase it gets nicked.

Your second link says 250 charges leaves them at 60% capacity. Turnigy are at 80% after 160 cycles. Tbh 60% is dead a long time ago imo. I don't want to oversize my pack enough to make that useable.

For power, weight, cost and complexity reasons, the HK wins every time for me

Still talking about a battery you cannot buy today. But other packs from HK should be available. I'm not sure what, if anything, is in stock at HK in lifepo4.

the 18650 cells i've seen are pretty expensive and pretty low C. higher C ones cost alot more.

on top of that, i'm not even sure how reliable they are since most of the places selling them are from china, no different than the places that sells these lipos and lifepo4s, so.....

i doubt if they can make 5C either. all of the lifepo4 pouches are about 1-2C max imo. i think they all have to use the same sources for the carbon and for the lifepo4 cathodic ingredients. so i would assume a ping pouch is as good if not better than what HK offers.

Gives you a feel for how exaggerated the lico c rates they claim are too eh?

My rule of thumb is cut any c rate spec in half for real world use. But it's cut buy 75% for HK products. :lol: The 20 c lico struggles with a 5c discharge.

If you look closely, this is when you discharge the poor cell at discharge rate of 22A
So in normal use the cell will last for 600-800 cycles.

My four turnigy nanos 10s lasted for about 100 cycles, they have about 60% left now. so I don't trust them much. Poor quality and they lie about c-rates.
