Hi
After 14 months I finally got my elation V3 Mark I kit working. It it's been working really well for 3 weeks now (if you don't count half the chain ring bolts that came loose). But today as I went to remove the battery from the rack the entire handle assembly, the whole black plastic part on the back of the case that houses the charging point and the rear light, just fully broke off. It looks like a pretty generic bike battery case that a lot of kits and complete ev bikes use.

It always felt weak and it's been an accident waiting to happen.

Qn: Has this happened to anybody else and did you come up with a good fix for it?

I left the back cover in place and put two pieces of aluminium angle, one on the top and one on the bottom (at the rear where the back cover is) to clamp the cover on. I put bolts through the angle and into the casing where the original screws were. Seems to be working so far.

Sounds like you've got it up and running. That battery case looks the same as the one from BMS Battery http://www.bmsbattery.com/57-battery-case and no doubt elsewhare too. You can just order the battery case.

I have that part as a spare if you want it (the other end of mine (not elation) broke during shipping), PM me and I'll send it to you.

Thanks all74 but it's so much stronger now with the aluminum angle.

Nice blog you've got going!

I'll have to start a new thread tonight. My elation motor just completely stopped working this morn. Only had about 5 months riding out of it. One thing is I can't walk the bike backwards - the motor wont turn backwards. I'll have to pull it apart again!Maybe it's the changes I had done to the gear box have seized it. Wont start a new thread till I pull it apart (gee - that's gunna take a while till I've got a day free on a weekend).
