This has nothing to do with electric bike, but I found this invention quite interesting. Will it better then wearing a helmet?
What do you think?

here is the picture of inflated helmet

MotorCycle had airbag system for awhile. May be this is for some of you who ride 100v system.

For an airbag to be effective, it has to inflate with such speed and force it could inflict injury on it's own. What if you head was turned or tilted when it inflates? Car airbags are known for causing injury, I knew a guy who had his hand on the top of the steering wheel when his air bag went off. It broke his arm and folded it right back to his body.. ouch!

combine with inflatable passenger 4 all round coziness in the event of a spill.

Where did you come up that picture?
Locally, (Seattle) we have Fremont Solstice Parade.
Fremont is a neighborhood where the Hippies went to when everyone thought they went away.
It has a troll under a bridge

And Soviet statue of Lenin.
Any way, the parade has nude riders and other fun entrants.
This bike would be good way at punning the nude bikers.

I want one. The airbag suit too. 8)

Seriously, after the double broken collarbones 3 years ago, that suit looks real nice. Build it right into the leather jacket.

Toorbough, this is so funny sick! :). The Interpretation of inflatable protection.

while we are on protection, I also came cross this protected jean Draggin Jeans from Australia, it not just any jean, but lined with Kevlar

Combine with inflatable leather jacket, Draggin Jean, and a full face helmet, you have complete protection.

Nice, around here, typical protective gear is a bandanna and tank top. Lemmings.

And the sunblock, right? ;)

You know, it's interesting, and I'm sure it's effective, but I will still prefer my full face Nolan N43 for the same reasons as Ypedal, and my helmet isn't going to "deploy" at just a jarring bump, I can't imagine this system is cheap, and the first time you hit a nasty pot-hole and get jarred enough to deploy it, you need a new one.

That just seems like a whole lot of $$$ and trouble to try and avoid messing up your hair.

Cool, though I'm not too keen on explosives around my neck. Too bad the majority of serious head injuries on bikes are trauma to the face. Bike helmets are a joke other than for those who crash often and predictably due to the nature of their type of riding where every bit of protection helps. Give me a full body or at least many point airbag system.

Pricey!
Single use & about $450 per shot!

Just realized, as I watched the video ...

An inflatable airdam might be a do-able item?
CO2 it up, deflate into small bag, when not needed.

A modern car has less wind resistance, than a bicyclist!
An aerodynamic "bicycle" passed 80mph with < 400w input.

Aerodynamic Factors

Interesting idea, would have to have something pretty puncture resistant, and hey, I guess it could double as a "roll cage" if you were to crash.

Years ago i heard about a motorcycle suit with airbag, the price per shot was 10000€ even though that was more than my suzuki was worth every rich motard in the land run to buy that thing like there's no tomorrow. A stupid random day a stupid random airbag inflated for no reason when the dude was riding at wot,he probably had quite a good crash cos i never heard about those suits anymore. Everything that can possibly fail ... Eventually WILL FAIL

I love it! but I would not trust those sensors yet. Maybe as an augment system to the regular helmet.

I hope this proves to be a better alternative. I'm tired of helmets.

I predict aerogels may have an impact here. should be able to make really safe and light helmets with that stuff almost invisible if u use the right gels

I don't understand why it doesn't cover your face, or at least provide a little chin protection.

'airbags' have been used in motorcycle racing leathers for few years now
successfully, the helmet is somewhat of an extension of that i think? I'll
stick with my tried and trued fiberglass lid though....for now anywayz..

I'd rather they *prevent* an impact somewhere. ;)
