Is there a shop in Austin, Tx to customize a bike?

I'd like to see some of the differences in products, and get some customization. Alien scooters maybe?

What kind of shop are you looking for? Personally, I wasn't very happy with service I got at Alien Scooters. On the other hand, Mike at Easy Street Recumbents built a wheel for me around a Crystalyte motor--still true after more than 3000 miles. :) Not sure if he still sells Crystalyes or not, but I think he might be an EbikeKit dealer now too. Mike runs a very high-end shop, imho. I'd bet he could help you customize anything you want. There are lots of other great bike shops in Austin, too (Ozone, Clown Dog, Bike Farm, etc.)--I guess it really depends what kind of customization you want.

I didn't know of any bike shops here that would be familiar with some of these newer Technologies, thanks for the heads up!

well, not all of those shops deal with electric motors--they're just good bike shops. You didn't say what you meant by "customization"--did you just mean adding a motor? if so, Easy Street Recumbents is the only good place I know of first-hand in Austin. You might want to check with RL Martin bikes too. Their stuff has been discussed a bit on this list before. I've never been to their shop, but when I've spoken to them on the phone they've been very nice (in strong contrast to a couple of conversations I had with a woman at Alien Scooters...).

Alien scooters comes across as the opposite of what this website is all about, when we're talking electric bikes.

They are quite expensive too, top retail price.
