Starting my first bike project on my own.

Is it ok to use a 48v 20ah battery for 48v 500W motor?

I found a barely used Ping, very cheap.

Large enough (20Ah) battery for 0-1000W kit, IMO.

Sure but I have this 500w motor.
Will it get damaged?

Not if you use a controller rated for that motor.

Are you sure its not damaged already? I hate buying second hand batteries.

Make sure the battery puts out at least 58v when fully charged, then does not drop much below 56v by morning. 55v still ok, 54v, pretty worn.

That would be normal for a Ping 48v.

If the battery checks out, no problem for your bike. Amp hours is capacity, like gallons of gas in the car. The kit controller will limit the flow, like the carb, or injectors of a car do.
