For all the Australian members, just a quick message to let people know that my RC based minature friction drive will be on the New Inventors television show tonight the 18th August 8.00pm ABC1.

Don't forget to put a vote in for me in the people choice award section.

For everyone outside Aus, Aussiejester will be posting it on Youtube as soon as its been aired.

Thanks everyone.

Good luck !

Can't promise a vote until I see the competition.

P.S. Nice new avatar pic.

Hope it goes well!

IM PISSED - I signed up for a proxy to Australia so I could watch this live on iView ABC1 and its still telling me I am in the USA - PIECE OF CRUD!

Can someone post the video - i can give you an FTP URL to post it to (e-bikemike.com)

-Mike

Thats a bummer. What time would you need to watch it live where you are? 6.00am? Jester is going to Youtube quite quickly so maybe you can check out the show over breakfast :)

By the way, I havent seen the show yet either so I have no idea how it will come across after editing.

Are you sure it is on tonight? The TV guide still shows something else on....

It was saying it was to be on Wednesday at 8pm - I assumed you have 23 hours ahead of the states or yea it's on tommroow - but I found a live streaming (private) site for HD quality rebeam about 45 seconds behind Sky, ABC1, etc. Since they are OTA - nothing illegal. I'll have an HD version of the full show up on my personal server in no time for all of us, then I will edit the other garbage out once a torrent is available).

Man I can't wait to see this drive (I never put deposits up!)

I forgot John - you do realize you must add 2 more steps to the production process of the orders your filling now for us ES pre-buy guys (since we did kinda help?)

1.) You must have a hardened steel stamp of your signature (try to be cool like stussy) embedded into the drive body
2.) You need to make this the limited first edition and number stamp each one (or scrawl it with a dremel).

Someday this too may be collectible - a few bearings and a fusion drive and it will even be functional again!

Just encoding the segment now then i'll up it on Youtube and embed it here should be done withing 10-15minutes i think...

Represented yourself extremely well on the show mate, drive unit looks superb!

EDIT: may take slightly longer than anticipated seems youtube is taking its slow ass time..

Kepler,

You know I am going to make you eat the words "It works with almost all bikes except the kind with full suspension rear" :)

-Mike

It is hard to believe that I could be more excited about this than I was when I ordered, but that show did it. Kepler thanks for making them, AJ thanks for the vid. Now I have to figure which big bad motor I want to use in it

Thanks guys,

I am really pleased with having it right out there now. They had some good shots of the drive in action, especially the motor disengaging from the tire. Chasing up the last of the CNC parts today so I hope to have the some kits ready for shipment in the next few days.

Well done on getting on TV.
Couldn't help but notice the issue of street legal and Australia's 200 watt limit was totally ignored.

Amanda

Also meant to say......

The name "Tailwind" got mentioned a few times. A quick Google turns up tailwind.com, tailwind.net, and multiple reviews of the schwinn product of the same name.

The 200w issue was part of the discussions during the show but was edited out. Anything sold as a operating drive in Aus would be limited as required. Discussions with some electric bike importers suggest they interpret the limit as a continuous output on flat ground. Under acceleration and climbing hills would see a higher current draw, more like 400 to 500W during these peaks.

In relation to Tailwind. The name was quickly chosen before the show as I could hardly call it a kepler drive. Bit of a problem now but we will get around it.

Totally off topic, but now they mentioned your surname on the show, i was wondering if you chose the nick "Kepler"
after the Seth Efrikan/Australian cricket playerof the same name hahaa?

I like the name tailwind myself, and the 200watt issue being passed over, didnt even come to mind when i was watching it LoL prolly coz i totally disregard it myself with 10 000watt setup LMAO.. As you say though mate, you are able to limit these easily, besides, the Australian market i think might be a smaller part of the buyer group? Overseas market will dominate the sales i feel?

Exactly were it came from. My mates nicknamed me Kepler in the 80s

HAHA i thought it may have been the case, he was a bloody good player too
i loved watching him bat, Seth Efricas loss was Australias gain!

Good job Kepler!! You really sold it man, I want one now. That's a great show and a fantastic opportunity to be on it. Do they give out any contact info if one were to buy it?

Thanks etard,

Glad it came across OK. It sure is a great oportunity. The station is non comercial, so they cant advertise. They just give out your email address. I get about 10 a day with people asking how they can buy one so its been great advertizing. Big difference selling a drive like this to a little old lady as apposed to a group of ebike ethusiasts. Working on ways to do this but ist going to be a huge challenge

By the way, thanks to all that voted for me in the People's Choice Award. Very pleased to announce that I won this so its nice to know the drive was so well received. I think it’s a win for all of us pushing the ebike barrow.

Congrats Kepler!!

I actually just came across your Kepler Friction drive not long ago. And it's F***ing great!

It will be very successful if you could source all parts and have continuous stock. Just gotta try and get the different parts made in the masses. Investors will be interested too :)

I look forward to watching it grow! :D :D :D
