I just got this old 24V Lee Iococca bike. Replaced the two 12V cells and the electrolytic filter capacitor. Plugged it in and found the key was broken off but not in the switch. Also found two wires hanging loose from it.

The battery level lights on the switch assembly glow when I insert the battery. So I assume that means the switch is in the on position. The electric drive does not engage when I pedal The on-line service manual shows nothing on the switch nor do I have an owners manual to tell me ho to use it. Does anyone know how to disassemble the switch to troubleshoot it or a schematic as to how the switch is wired into the system?

I am excited to get this up and running.

I couldn't find a post specific to the keyswitch, but I did find this manual in a couple places

that includes a schematic and various troubleshooting/setup info.

It says the keyswitch goes to the orange and green wires on pins 3 and 4 of the F connector. That then goes to a 6V source on the controller, and to a Main Relay Control on the controller, and then via a diode to the Key Switch INput of the controller.

So...if you can access the orange and green wires and the battery negative, you can put a voltmeter's black lead on battery negative, and the red lead on each of those wires. If the key is on, it'll have about 6v on both wires. If not, it'll only be on one wire, the other will probably be 0V.
