I'm a novice when it comes to troubleshooting ebikes, but my 4yo is looking up to me to fix this thing! Hopefully the brains trust here can save the day!
I have a kids Kawasaki Elektrode balance bike. It's all working apart from the display that's mounted on the handlebar got smashed and no longer functions.
The display casing has the following printed on the back: MACCO23020067
Inside the display casing, the PCB has this printed on it: KD59E-V2.0
I ordered a generic KD59E from Ali Express and plugged it in. It powers on and allows me throtle control, BUT....... the motor spun very slow at full throttle and seems to be locked to some sort of speed limit setting.
On inspection of the Kawasaki manual, it says that the orignal display has a keypress code combination that is supposed to unlock the faster speed settings. Because it's a kids bike, it has parental locks for low, middle, and high speeds.
I tried all the key combos in the manual on the new generic display with no luck... :-(
So it looks like the generic replacement display I purchsed wont unlock the bikes full speed. The brushless motor ECU must require a UART code from the display to unlock it.
My question: Does anyone know how I can bypass or manually overide this 8/12/21km/h speed limit lock on the ECU without ordering a new display from Kawasaki? (assuming that's the issue)
I'll attach pictures to hopefully illustate my challange.
Additional Info:
