500 watt front hub motor, 11AH battery ridden for approximately 1 1/2 years working normally. All of a sudden after sitting unused for 2 weeks with a fresh charge on the battery, the KT-LCD1 display started coming on then immediately going off. Then after turning battery switch off and back on the same thing happens. Is it time to get a new display or should I look for another cause? Anyone had a similar problem?

I would look at the battery voltage before going much further. Make sure the Controller isn't shutting down due to low voltage.

Sounds logical and where I will look next. Just didn't want to think about replacing the most expensive component in the whole kit.

More information: When factory charger indicates full charge ( blue not red) no load voltage reads well over 40 volts but display will not stay on. If I leave the charger connected to the battery, the display KT-LCD1 stays on. Does this indicate a faulty controller, faulty charger or bad battery? It is a 36v rated battery I forgot to say.

The LCD1 would normally shut itself off if the battery voltage is below 30 volts. Can you monitor the battery voltage with the battery connected to the controller? I think it would be unusual if the battery voltage actually was dropping that much.

Will the throttle or pedal assist spin the motor if you leave the charger connected?

The LCD1 is not that expensive, if it failed. Around $30-40? You can always jumper the connector, if you're careful and know how, and a KT controller will usually work.

Thanks for the several suggestions and I will construct a wye to check the voltage while it is hooked up, although I now do not think it is the battery. Just got back from my usual 8 mile ride (I'm 86 and e-bike makes going up hill e
asier) with no problem. I started the display and subsequently the motor by plugging in the charger then everything works and does not quit when the charger is disconnected. I tend to think it may be the display or a switch or bad connection. Incidentally, neither the throttle now pedal assist will work unless the display is on. I may purchase an LCD1 since they ae relatively inexpensive as a shot in the dark.
