why dont you talk to the supplier and find out

http://www.electricbike.com/ktm-egnition/

This site says estimated to be 10,000.

I guess this is another stealth bomber alternative. Looks nice.

Ian are you being funny with talk to a supplier and link alibaba. That is a scam site from china they will say bike costs 800 dollars and fools will believe they can get a 10k bike for under 1k.

haha crap i just typed in that link and said here you go, had no idea it's $10k lmao

Could be you can buy 1 to look over if you have a large previous buy orders history on alibaba so they know your for real expecting a next purchase of at least 50+ or at least as many a single shipping container can hold.
If they wanted just 1 on 1 deals it would be on ebay.

Or its just a scam, some AU farmers bought $100k of fertilizer from Alibaba which was apparently a great deal for that specific type. Once got it off the ship it was just dodgey contaminated dirt dug up somewhere from an industrial park in China, they were fully scammed.

A relative of mine buys farming equipment via alibaba but its a minefield and once you have gone through the trouble of getting it in via shipping container etc the costs add up.

Their main web site doesn't list that KTM bike http://www.hkxc-bike.com but assuming its produced exclusively for KTM it probably shouldn't be, but it could be used for added weight for the argument that its some kind of scam. They do have one electric bike on there though but not very good one.

TheBeastie, its a known scam for bikes to go on alibaba asking under 1K for a 8K bike.

People even come on here asking about them.

It is the perfect scam setup really because I heard they ship you something and you sign for it so you are stuck with it. There are many fools who think they can also buy a bike like this for so cheap from China.

KTM would never sell bikes through alibaba, nor would Hipowered Cycles. Why would any reputable western companies sell items through alibaba.

http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=39838

Yeah I would assume that if these bikes were made for KTM in a factory in China they would be angry that the said factory is making them to sell directly, which I guess is what this alibaba seller is trying to claim.

It's interesting that this seller has gone to the trouble of having a fake web site on there http://www.hkxc-bike.com/ I assume there is a process to even setup hkxcbike.en.alibaba.com
Unless some one has hacked admin into this legitimate site and has listed this product item with out the heads of the company knowing about it.

It would be pretty sweet if the motor, frame and crankset got leaked out for just $800. But i'm dreaming.
You send them $800 they send you the biggest piece of shit lead acid 24v bike there is or nothing at all.
Probably just using the image as bait. Then you get the oops sorry our sales rep made a mistake but you can ship it back for $500 in shipping fees.

BTW, is that a freeride bike they are using?

Looks like a 7" travel.

Does anyone know if a double crown fork that comes all the way up to like the handlebars, also used on most downhill bikes, is even worth it for an ebike? I would take it a single crown would be more than enough and you may be able to turn better?

Dual crowns are usually more rigid and if your ebike weights more than 40kg they start to be mandatory when breaking hard. There's nothing wrong with a good single crown fork, but the max travel ones are about 180mm.
That ktm bike looks sweet but the wheelbase looks a bit long for twisty trails.

I send him an email asking for some details about the bike, and 24 hours laters:
" Sorry, the page you're looking for cannot be found "

Well yeah gone now, still wouldn't surprise me if this company actually makes that bike for KTM. I bought a no-name Chinese build 250cc atv bike on ebay for $815, that looks a lot like this: http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/592645589/OFF_ROAD_250CC_ATV.html
So price is bit more then doubled from their price which seems about right.

They got a fair amount of standard looking ebikes here http://hkxcbike.en.alibaba.com/productgrouplist-213545889-1/E_Bike.html
This racer bike looks pretty wild http://hkxcbike.en.alibaba.com/product/599756659-213545889/72V80Ah_battery_automotive_grade_combination_headlight_GPS_satellite_navigation_and_GPS_positioning_cheap_electric_motorcycle.html

I doubt they make the bike, even if they did there not selling it for $800 or $1600 for that matter no way. Just prevented someone from getting screwed.

No I would expect KTM to sell a bike at an extreme premium, simple as that. But I don't think the bike would cost more to mass produce in china for more than $800.
If I can get a nice cheap Chinese 250cc quad bike for $815 from a local store something that weighs at least 10 times as much in raw materials etc I can see the total cost of input into that electric KTM being less then $800, they can ship 10 times the amount for them in a single shipping container, if a lot of people have been buying that KTM at $11k each it's been a better margin of profit then even Apple could do, although not everyone including grandparents are buying ebikes compared to mobile phones.
I saw the video of that KTM doesn't seem that amazing.

Well I am sorry if I offended you, I didn't mean to assert any real accusation.
Considering the original topic was a KTM electric bike that the web site does not even list any more there is good argument for this thread to just be deleted then do any unfair damage to the said company.
