Looking for a power supply

Currently I have two possible candidates

Mean Well RSP-1500-24
or
ProTek R/C Super Pro 2000


Is there anyone using a Protek?
Im not asking about the MW because its a well known brand.

If you would like to charge directly from the power supply, I suggest finding a lab power supply with a CC/CV mode built-in.

They are really very handy to have. ebay "sorensen", and then click the "industrial equipment" tab on the left. Or, "xantrex, -inverter".

Be prepared to pay through the teeth for a sorrensen. I love those things, but the last one I put a PO in for was the cost of a car

It doesn't have to be a sorrensen. I got a pretty good deal on a used Xantrex XPD 60V 9a unit. I paid something like $250 on ebay. Its one of the smallest 500w Lab PSUs. I love it!

Luke and his overkilling advices.... To be truth I think there is no overkill when you talk about power, but i just happen to have a limited budget.

Oh well I dont really want to bulk charge the lipos If that was the case I would just go too the cheap kp-charger route.
I was thinking about ordering either the protek or the meanwell to power a FMA powerlab 8 smart charger.

Truth be told, the sorrensen I bought was 800VA... Ahh the good ole days. A 500w version would be alot more reasonable, and I don't think Luke paid crazy money for his.

I just bought another 50v 20amp lab supply last night on ebay, it was $136 shipped. But it wasn't such a nice little compact desk package, it's a full 1u server rack size supply.

I've currently got:

55v 180amp sorensen DCR Series
250v 20amp Sorensen SGA series.
80v 125amp Sorensen DCR Series.
3x 8v 125amp Sorensen DCR Series.
150v 7amp Sorensen DCR Series.
40v 30amp Sorensen DCR Series
30v 40amp Sorensen DCR Series
3000v 500mA BioRad super fancy-pants supply I got for like 5% of it's original cost.

And a dozen or so lesser supplies, various China stuff.

I hate the fact that you cant use the same 1kw power supply for 100v 10a and 10v 100a... I ll ultimately be forced to buy diferent supplys coz I cant afford a 10kw sorensen or xandrex.
So Protek RC or Meanwell for 1500w+ 24v supply?

If you keep your eye out, you can get Sorensons pretty cheap, like the one Ryan got earlier this month. Problem is if you can't pick it up locally it's going to often cost more than the unit itself to ship it, given that most of the large rack types weigh anything from 40-50lbs on up to 150-200lbs. (the older types with large transformers especially, and those are the ones you're more likley to find really cheap).
