m14 torque washers in the m12 style?

i cannot for love or money find m14 (14x10mm) torque washers that have a side lug rather than a sticky out lug.

i need the m12 style in the the m14 size

i have already got some m12 in the correct style and may end up just filing them out to fit. i know this will weaken them some though :s

i just cant understand why they are a normal thing for m12 but not for m14 :S

can anyone point some out for me?

Tabbed washers are only suitable for low power motors, and most of those have 12mm axles.

Easiest remedy is probably to use a torque arm instead.

i have a torque arm....and will probably end up fitting it....

I still like to have the washers aswell. the stick out tab ones i have, dont even touch the sides of my rear arm dropout, as its such a short slot.

ive ended up filing two m12's one out and they seem ok, at least it touches the dropout sides.

Do they really touch at the front edge of the dropout slot? I find they usually don't, on rear vertical dropouts. And if they don't touch, they may as well not be there.

Tabbed washers for a torque arm means your looking to spin the axle unless your really into wimpy low power of 250W. Can't remember what the lab tests said for Nm of force before the spin occurs as per Justin Lemores video.

M14 x 10 mm tab washers are available on e-bay. example : https://www.ebay.com/itm/184938886979?hash=item2b0f377743:g:MZkAAOSwamJg7KQ7 . torque washer is misnomer. anti-rotation washer is for positioning a flatted axle in a slotted dropout during assembly. My experience has been that the tab washers,in the kit, are enough on a Q100- 201 rpm @ 36V & 17Amp controller,front steel fork and on a 350W generic geared rear , aluminum dropouts , 48V 22 Amp controller. Starting at 500 W geared hub I choose real torque arms, and the tab washers are useful as shims to fill in space on the axle as needed.

ive been using tabbed washers on a much thinner material rear dropout frame for years, 1500w motor.

did end up having to weld a nut n bolt assembly to stop the frame cutouts from splaying out over time.

new arm is about 5 times thicker material (still steel) in the dropout slots, so no chance of splaying out....but they are a lot shorter.

the only thing that would work (has any dropout contact) for them is the m12 style in the m14 size.

hence why i filed two out. one for either side.

im still using the tabbed washers on the outside with the filed out ones on the inside of the dropouts. if the smaller ones fail the bigger ones should stop a complete rotation.

however again, i cant see why there isnt a better quality larger washer out there.
why are there two differnt styles and two differnt sizes that dont interchange? and more importantly why are the only two options both junk?

even the torque arm kits look like bodge junk thats poorly made, jubilee clips are meant for hoses not attaching things to your bike

Yes but in this case they work fine when used appropriately and easily adapt to a wide range of stay sizes and shapes, are inexpensive and widely available and understood.

But the ebike world is your oyster if you invent or fabricate an elegant alternative at a good price. Curious to see what you come up with, and also as a potential customer.

It is designed to hold a soft, pliable hose onto a rigid circular pipe, or sometimes a solid spigot, of smaller diameter.

FYI:
I used to work in subsea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) industry.
SST versions of those were used to secure all sorts of things on the ROVs including expensive video cameras.
