Searching for the best way to bond magnets to repair an old 500w motor I have laying around, I came across something I'd never heard of before. a quick search found no one had mentioned this hear before, either.

Motor magnet bonding tape. Apparently it's thermally activated. the best part is how easy it would be to control your air gap, if you can so easily control your bond thickness. Tighter air gap, more power, more range.

Sub’d this may be something i try to reglue the Voloci magnets to the stator to prevent failure but this will be the only thing holding the magnets in place...do you think it can replace glue? Voloci magnets arent held in by anything at all ;)

On a Chinese motor I had, all the magnets came loose, they were held in by some epoxy they use over there. I reset them using JB weld

I bet just like their VHB tape lines

used to hold wall panels and glass onto skyscrapers, no mechanical fasteners

that following the detailed data sheets regarding surface prep, (nasty solvents) temperature ranges, timing etc

is critical to increasing odds of success.

Interesting stuff. I wouldn't mind trying it out if I could find a small quantity for sale, all I could find was 12" x 36 yards for
$991.00. I can see where it might be useful for many other things as well, but then 3M has other tapes for that.

The main problem that I can see is the thermal cure, which the data sheet says is from 120C to 165C, or 248F to 329F.
kinda high for neodymium's.
