Ok, first thing's first...

I AM THE MAN! 8)

Now that I got that out of the way.. Question

Anybody know how to safely remove magnets from Cyrstalyte motors?

I want to weld the broken flange but I don't want expose the magnets to heat. I used strong paint removing chemical hoping to melt the epoxy bonding the magnets but it didn't work.

Get the motor hot, but not too hot. The epoxy should soften with heat, but stay under 250F. Or try welding while having ice packed around the magnets.

This time of year, maybe just put the hub out overnight, and weld at dawn.

Hey gents, just quick one to thank you guys for the great tips!

Yesterday I bought aluminum brazing rods w/flux and 360 degrees torch kit so I'm psyched to get on with it.. Not sure if it's as good as HTS2000 or Durafix, we'll see..

Unfortunately, today my one year old baby girl thought my mac laptop would bounce like a ball so before I can move forward with this 4011 repair project I need to replace my HDD before it completely fails, poor little G4 is already showing errors ..but I'd managed to save important data as well as shoot a quick reply. Man this would could be a week long mac repair. :x

be back soon, HAPPY FRIDAY!
