how do you keep up with pedaling at 70 km/h
Hey bloke, this guy is a martial arts legend, these type of things are easy for him 8) (prolly can pedal at 100 kph !!)
LOL yeah not quite. i can stand up and pedal up an overpass bridge at 70kph slipstreaming my neighbor in his delivery truck. i saw him at work later after that and he couldn't beleive it. i was worried i pissed him off by tailgating.

anyway, nah the battery is ok. it got an alarm with a 2 way remote so its transmitting to it constantly. thats allot of time. bu yeah the battery is old, however it is a marine trauler deep cycle type battery so it has very thick plates and high capacity. so its probably still got another year in it. especially with the solar pannel. ... providing a leave it in the sun in future :/
edit:
this one if any one is interested

I am strong, like ox. /eastern European accent :p

I have to admit, 70km/hr is freewheeling down a hill. But with the gearing the internally geared schlumpf bottom bracket affords me I CAN actually contribute quite meaningfully at 60km/hr. They're a fantastic bit of kit and worth the extra $400 odd on a serious ebike. Hey if you're spending 2k on the electrics why not spend a few hundred on that cute little pedal part of the drive train :)

LOL
yeah my quads are like wile e coyote (road runner) with the acme steroids.
its 48t-11t 27" wheel (hookworm tyre is bigger)
so its possible to pedal at high speed. well yeah i guess im used to pedaling like a mouse in one of those wheels. so lets say its "possible"
a schlumpf would be sweet. even has a bash gaurd :) . but i could buy a bmx for that..

Yep, that's exactly what I got in mind. these large chain rings suck ass. at the moment I'm using only one gear cause the Derailleurs are frocked up too. Mr Shlumpf is a fellow-countryman I need to talk to him, maybe I can get a discount :)

sounds good. im sorta wanting one. but today went to the skate park again and dropped in quite a few times with no issues. i was starting to ride over the box more smoothly to. bit of power to pull the front wheel over and smooth it out :)

haha. was that other dude standing there watching with you or just standing there thinking "wtf is this clown doing ?"
he was on his phone. probably organising a drug deal. but yeah seamed to be a bit of "wtf?" look on his face.
i went to the city skate park after this and it was packed so i just sat down and drank my larger. when i left i rolled up behind some kid and he kinda veered off slowly then i power up the biggest bank there and launched off and they all shit themselves cos they didnt realise i had POWER! haha. its about 12ft or so high, i bit lower than 45º . ill get vid of that park soon. its pretty sweet just to crazy with heaps of kids there and they lurk on the box in the middle.

Can you put the camera on something else, so we can see you and the bike and how it handles the drops with the suspension? I got a thing for watching how suspension compresses on different bikes especially ones as heavy as yours...

thanks for the vids.

Yeah man will do. The front bottoms out going down the bank. I think Ihave the front too soft and the back a bit too hard and a bit too slow. But iI tend to land back wheel first when I do big jumps.

I had a old broken gear side plate so i drilled holes in a circle to remove the unwanted material from the middle.
IMG_20140316_152802.jpg
Using a dremel cutting disc, I cut the metal between the drill holes.
IMG_20140316_152829.jpg
I then cleaned it up with an angle grinder, not perfectly but should look ok after i coat it in black epoxy paint.
IMG_20140316_163210.jpg
I lined it up and marked a bolt hole, then drilled that, then using one bolt lined up a hole on the other side, drilled that then with the 2 bolts mounting it I marked the other three bolt holes and i got it quite acurate considering i just scratched it with a small screw driver.
Its slightly to big and was just touching the front derailer so i just moved that up a couple mm. So this should keep my chain ring from bending when i go to the skate park, also keep the chain on. I found it was comming off usually only when i move the bike around. very rarely whilst riding.

Is this the only crystalyte chain guide?

LOL, I think you'll find yourself pretty unchallenged for this one
Are you going to paint it to match the bike ?

Yeah I'll get some paint onto it tonight. While I'm at it I'll paint the swing arm to.

Nah Rix, haven't tried it yet. Not just riding or smashing it into the coping of the ramp.
Don't worry I'll keep updates coming on if this thing works. The guy at the bottle shop that used to ride DH MTB said "oh yeah do some grinds" lol . nah I don't think so. Not intentionally any way.
Should look good with a bit of monster sticker on the bash guard. Maby swing arm as well.

Damn PenD, she's looking serious these days. There's just something about the home built appearance aspect of your 6KW thumper. At first, I couldn't quite identify it, then just now, while looking at it, it hit me like a sack of wet mice falling out of third story window of a pet store. Your bike is the electric equivalent of the motorcycles in Mad Max and Road Warrior. YAH!!!! Your bike has that look like it has ridden a million miles and can go a million more. Just saying.

yeah I love those movies. When I was producing music The guy I worked with allot sampled the "Johnny the boy has done it again, he's never gunna learn" as the intro to an EP. Thats Scope, hes in a few of my YT vids.

OK

badt hing happened

I went to a pub in the city, met a guy and shared a jug, shared another jug. took bike to park with a take away six pack, i let him cruze around and we chilled for a bit. i felt a bit sleepy so i went for a lap around the park, then offered my new friend a go again, he went half way round and aparently cracked his colar bone. bent pedal.
he was in ALLOT of pain. some other random dudes came and called a ambulance.
i was trying to keep him calm and tell him pain killers will be here soon.
it didnt take too long, well considering we were a few 100 mtrs from the hospital it could have been quicker. anyway he get meds and while the ambo's sat him up and he was crying out in pain the cops started looking at my ike.

its now being detained.
and hopefully will be dyno tested today.
i had to disconect the beepers and tape up the jst conecters incase they dont test it today because it might drain the cells too much by monday.

the cops were really nice and gave me a lif home and gave my details to the injured guy.
he sliped on grass, not like he hit something. he said he rides alot. anyway. YT vids offline for now. dyno will say 200watts and ill get the bike back soon. could have riden this W/E at least i have a spare bike.
basically im not in trouble leagally, its a matter of insurance for the guy that broke his colar bone. hes a top bloke and i was stressing waiting for the ambo's
..
hes in hospital now so should be fine, and was left side i think he's a righty. so thats a plus.
man im a bit devo'ed.
my bike is with the cops being dyno tested.
lucky it was in street legal 200watt mode.
what a head frock.

Glad you had it in legal mode. I could just see the storm that could have came down on you. Yah, you will get your bike back and be riding before you know it.

Rick

Oh snap. Literally.
I'm sure you'll be right, if the CA is reading anywhere around 200w it'll read much less on the dyno. Don't forget it doesnt take into account motor inefficiency and drive train losses and the figures we've all come to quote from our CAs are really battery power and not the shove we've getting to the ground.
I'm curious on a few details though - when you say you met this guy and shared several drinks with him, do you mean you actual just met him for the first time or kinda knew him and met up with/bumped into him there ? I won't pass judgement on you picking up random blokes and then offering them a ride on your 'motorcycle'
It's interesting how it'll play out though as far as this guys injuries go. You can't be held responsible if he was riding either way, and technically he was pissed so there's going to be no insurance or anything even if it was applicable to start with (maybe personal injury / income protection insurance if he's off work - I dont think that matters how it happens as long as it's not a suicide attempt ? )
Did the police know he was pissed ? I assume the law there is you're still treated the same for DUI on a push bike as in a car ? I guess it's a grey area as you were in a park and not on the road, but it's technically still a public place... If it wasn't obvious they probably wouldn't have had cause to do a blood test at the hospital so he might be right.

I take it this was the monster bike ? Running a big chicken motor company motor ?
Might be just as well you don't have those new HEB stickers on as the police could google it but as long as you're in 200w mode it shouldn't matter either way.
On a related note I had a meeting in the city the other day and rode my bike. I didnt want to leave it on the street for hours so I wheeled it through the building and chained it up to a back internal balcony.
When I came back a security guard was standing around and asked me lots of questions. He was genuinely interested in ebikes though and said he wanted to get one so wasn't there to give me a hard time. First thing he asked was about the power and I said "200w officer" and he laughed and said "ok so I assume this is the 2000w model" At first I'm thinking "WTF, how does he know that?". Then I realised I had the new stickers on the bike and he must have looked up my site it on his phone while standing around around. Ahhh...

Keep us posted on how it goes!
I hope the cops don't have your bike for too long, no doubt this isn't a regular thing for them so it might take some time to sort out.
And bad timing considering I'm coming to town next week! That throws our plans into a bit of a spin...
