mon-goose to MON-STER

Again nicely done with the tab on the chromoly fork. If you don't want to paint it, get some cold bluing and treat the area, its easy as hell to apply and wont allow rust to happen.

I think arc could weld stainless but the weld may not be as oxidation proof as the work material. Not sure about arc. Mig yes definitely, Iwas aaccidently given a stainless roll instead of a gassles roll when Iwelded a 2stroke stand up scooter. Then the sales man prick on the phone tried to tell me i was wrong and he definitely gave me gassless. Anyway. You know stainless is heavy as frock right? Chomoly then plating with chrome or nickel is normal. Chromoly seems easyer to arc weld to. Maby it won't make holes so easy because it is stronger. It seems to dissipate heat very well also.

From Wikipedia:
There are also methods of cold bluing, which do not require heated solutions. Commercial products are widely sold in small bottles for cold bluing firearms, and these products are primarily used by individual gun owners for implementing small touch-ups to a gun's finish, to prevent a small scratch from becoming a major source of rust on a gun over time. At least one of the cold bluing solutions contains selenium dioxide, to accomplish the bluing. Cold bluing is not particularly resistant to holster wear, nor does it provide a large degree of rust resistance. It does, however, often provide an adequate cosmetic touch-up of a gun's finish when applied and additionally oiled on a regular basis, however, rust bluing small areas will often match and blend better and wear better than any cold bluing process
Use on firearms. I'm guessing that's how your familiar with this technique? I'll look into it more but I'm happy to get some quality acrylic spray or urethane spray. I have some circuit Bord protector spray that is technically the same as acrylic clear spray but not really durable enough I'm guessing. Although its protected my monster stator quite well.

I cold blue a lot of my shit. Yah, I started using when I was refinishing a ww2 issue 3006 M1 Grand. Worked like a charm. But I used it on my Bomber and Fghters swingamr torque blocks after I filed vertical grooves in them, and I use it on bolt heads and nuts as well. The swing arm on the Bomber had a bunch of rock gouges in it that can't be seen now because I blued out the scratches. Doesn't affect paint, wont work on stainless steel, aluminum, or titanium though. Just handy to have a round.

Update on my projects and life:

Bmx has new wheels and all the drive traincomponents are on the way. I'm loving riding it as a bmx unpowered.

Monster axle should be here tomorrow so I'll get the pressed in this week and have it back on the road next weekend.

I'm going to tafe senior education pre apprenticeship course. To become an electrician.

Life change time due to a few things happening at once. Wages are super tight at work and they wanted me to do half my hours on checkout instead of my usual 38 hrs as store man. Been depressed about work anyway/ as well. Girl friend was ready to leave me cos our relationship was a bit rough cos I was depressed and drinking allot. I've gone back to meditation at Buddhahouse once a week and stopped drinking. Feeling good. I took leave from work so I've got my old job at the end if I don't pick up an apprenticeship straight away.
Should be interesting.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, can stop drinking...... at least beer. I just started teaching myself to meditate. I am not very good, but, I get to my place even though it takes a bit. The Job thing can get a person down. I am only good as being a cop and find myself growing tired of being the trash man for society. In fact, when I strike up a conversation with some I meet, wich is always the case as a micro brewery, when asked, I tell them I work in sanitation, and the majority of my job involves taking out the trash. Serves two points, first, no one ever asked about what the job entails because it sounds boring as shit, and second, I don't like walking around with a bulls eye on my back. I don't have any other skills, except maybe welding. At one time many years ago, I applied for a Journeymen's apprentice ship for electrician in Boise Idaho. The enterance exam consisited of some math I didn't know so I failed. I really hope you get it as this type of work can be transitional in your quest for Ebike Nirvanna. Keep you chin up, it will work out.

Yeah first day at tafe was all into hooha . but it looks sweet. I had red bull rampage dh MTB going on the big screen in the common area at lunch. Pretty luxury. In fact, they gave me permission to park and charge my ebike in the central area under cover and on CCTV. Hell yeah! Getting my moneys worth. Although I'm still looking into getting it subsidized.
edit
not subsidized. worth a shot.

oh BTW these fellas rocked up today :)

fat axle for chopbusters BMX, less fat axle for the monster (both from Tench)
and the sk3 6374 for my bmx

Efy ? :p

Good luck with the tafe stuff mate. Can you do it part time while still earning a few bucks on the side ?
Maybe after cutting some laps around the tafe campus you can make a bit of extra cash selling ebikes

Effy Lol :D

Yeah. I probably wouldn't have allot of time to make Kits but I guess basic 3kw kits don't need too much Modding.

I'm just working Saturdays as storeman (my usual job m-f) I've got 3 weeks of holiday pay then 7 weeks of just the Saturday. I've got savings so I'll be pretty much using that up entirely.

I'm going to see if tafe has a hydrolic press so I can DIY my axle swap . I've starter a cad for my bmx battery box so I might be able to make that instead on the metal toolbox thing we are supposed to make for the course.

Just for the record,

In many years from now, Efy came about because I was probably drunk typing slower than my brain.

Pronunciation is not the famous Greek lady way. eee as in easy

It refers to as in the whole word is a kind of contraction = electrify = e'fy

Well picked up though -

I don't mind if you pronounce it the greek lady way, but it will sound a bit like your frocking your bike.

I effed my bike = I f^%$ed my bike.

What are you doing on the weekend? I'm effing my bike. come over and help me...

Yeah it took me a minute to translate, but I came up with the correct answer.
Good work, you've taken the trademark Aussie lazily shortening of words and turned it up to 11

Clearly you haven't seen how my new raptor build has been shaping up :p

Very nice Ken, that axle is Sano as it gets, Tench is the man.
Ha. Yeah sano fo'real. In real life I can see it is made very precisely and from high quality material. Bearings look good and nuts are nylock. I'm not looking forward to the electrical diagnostics but at least its a system I am now familiar with. I'm hoping its only a cut hall signal that was causing the stutter or running rough.

So I got new halls into the monster ht3525 and its still no good. Pretty annoying as you can imagine. I've given up for today. I'll check my wires and the controller later.

We learnt about kWhrs at tafe today. I said oh yeah that's what they measure EV batterys in... Like the Prius.. He said , I don't know about that... :/

He also said apliances are rated at there output power! It was in the PowerPoint presentation and he said it a few times . I was sure they were rated on input power. Eg light globes, incandescent vs energy saver. I didn't say anything in class , I'll do my home work and ask him. What do y'all think?

Man, that sucks. I had a few dramas with my bike (fried controller, smelled/looked a bit wet too...). The motor is so hammered that there is a bit of play and the edges of the gears sometimes rub and make noise, but yeah 15000km and off road riding will do that.

As for the tutor, that's really lame. Electric motors, speakers, lightbulbs etc are all rated on their input power. Only devices like transformers, amplifiers etc are rated for their output power.

Smarter than the teacher. :p

Yeah. 15 000km is money's worth for sure. I think I need to fix / replace my controller. Who knows what got fryed when the wires got shorted in the axle...

I'm reading this http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_rating
Looks like both are correct. But I've never heard of power out put ratings on anything other than amps and stuff as you say Architectonic... "PPO" peak power out. PPO of a motor. So if its output how am I supposed to know how to not overload my circuit? If its very inefficient at max power out then my air con might fry the circuit or crest a voltage drop that Fry's itself.

started a new thread for the Free Agent BMX RC mid drive 2 stage reduction

still have to stuff around with the monster bike. im guessing the controller is stuffed or the hall wires got mashed when i put the cover back on, it was tight in the axle channel. i should try it on my other controller if i get to stuck i guess thats an option.

vid uploading of my rambling on about a bmx.. check the thread in an hour or so.
