Yeah that's the thing, I can only remember not to overtight from that post, maybe only my head messing with me now about the whole thing, sorry...

Haha! I gotta remember that one...somehow lock it away from my CRSSRix said:In the US, we call it CRSS, cant remember shit sometimes.![]()
Yes that's true. I've abused it a fair bit. That motor is on its third rim so that kinda shows how I smash it around.Architectonic said:Unreliability gets on your nerves after a while.. I hope you can get it all sorted.
To be fair, a 3525 pulling 6kw will put out around 150 NM of torque at low speed according to the ebikes.ca calculator. That combined with regen is going to rock the axle back and forth with some serious torque!
pendragon8000 said:Allex, yeah I thought about the nut pulling the flat axle part away from the round part where it meets at he shoulder. That's exactly where it broke and with the lug nuts, its done up pretty tight.
I'm putting a deposit down on an axle today. Tench is quite prompt with his replies.
Hopefully I'll be back in business in a week or two.
Rix it was clamped on both sides but I couldn't clamp down the gear side enough with the flathead 5mm bolt. I have an Allen key nut in there now and I'm able to tighten it easily.
pendragon8000 said:Axle lash? Well I don't know about that. IMO it was all the load going through the weaker side if the axle and breaking it the spinning the unloaded axle side in the dropout and torque arm.
Haha nice try. Probably not yet as I've got the new axle on the way. Anyway, h40 is heavyer with the same axle(different bearing positions)Hyena said:Damn dude, again ?! I dont wanna jinx myself but I've never broken a single axle. And I'm not exactly toddling around with low power levels.
It must be your riding style. You're not that heavy but if you're doing in rims as well it sounds like you're asking a bit too much for bicycle spec equipment.
Given you've minced the wiring as well I reckon *waves hand* it might be time to upgrade to a H40

I'm happy to hook you up, but going the DIY rough with frame construction is harder than it sounds. Modding an existing frame is pretty easy but there's a heap more work involved when you're building from the ground up. Hence why my own frame design is taking so long to get off the ground and why I've taken up the raptors in the mean time! I'd be a bit reserved about making a frame from Al your first time out too. Steel is more forgiving and even some of the fabricators I've spoken to while sussing out my own frame project have been a bit nervous about Aluminium.pendragon8000 said:I am considering getting a raptor from you though. I'd like to buy a mig for aluminium and a small lathe then I could make a frame for the same price and have tools as well
yeah Bozi, thats it. i think this motor has had about 5 sets of halls(3 sets were wrong type), 2 thermostats, 3 axles (one was the wrong one - sigh) and 3 rims, 2 sets of spokes. shes a trooper. i figure as long as the coper and magnets are good and have the ability to fix whatever im just riping myself off to not fix it. and the ht3525 is light and slowest.John Bozi said:Is hyena the raptor importer now?
Although I can imagine Pend riding a raptor, it just doesn't right. I have this image of Pend being the diy guy all the way to repairing a motor a thousand times for example.
mongoose to monser rather than complete build done for him...
again a raptor will not solve his problems of breaking stuff. Maybe cro?
Yep, here's my latest shipment :lol:John Bozi said:Is hyena the raptor importer now?
Yeah, but there's still plenty of customization you can do. I have some pretty big plans for my own one I'm building up now and admittedly some of them are a little juvenile :lol:Although I can imagine Pend riding a raptor, it just doesn't right. Fair enough. I'd be inclined to do as much of the work as possible myself then pay an experienced welder to neatly stitch it all up. But then your current bike hasn't fallen apart yet so what would I knowpendragon8000 said:with welding aluminum/aluminium, a mig on that is much easyer than arc on sheet steel, especially 1.5mm bike frame
Yeah mate, too legit to quit :lol:John Bozi said:Hyeana are you officially the one?
yeah pretty muchRix said:Ken don't mind a little Hijacking once in a while, just buy him a pint and all is grand.![]()
