Motor cuts out when starting off

Can I have some advice please

i have just rebuilt the bike in the picture using a
complete controller kit , Throttle, PAS, Controller, Display,
The 36v drive wheel is almost new.

it runs fine on PAS and cruises along once moving on the throttle .

When I start using the throttle it attempts to move and then makes a noise and cuts out. It will keep doing this until it’s moving with help from the pedals and once moving it’s perfect.
if I lower the power from setting 5 to 1 or 2 it will work most times.

To me it don’t sound mechanical it’s the sort of whining noise most make when starting.
It’s a basic display with few settings. I understand the wheel size, the low power, But I am a little unsure of the hub magnet count. It defaults to 46 but I am not sure if that’s correct.

The display don’t alter. It stays on.
I did wonder if my temp wires from the battery to controller were too thin but I have fitted heavy wires now.

I am still learning about these but I have joined colour to colour on the wires to the hub as I had to fit new connectors. Hoping that’s correct.
the only thing I have not fitted is a speed sensor that was in the kit that uses a magnet on the spokes to give the speed. This means when I close the throttle my speed on the display goes away.

I have an amp meter but I can see the power on the display snd it don’t drop

the only thing I have not fitted is a speed sensor that was in the kit that uses a magnet on the spokes to give the speed.

Ummm - This! The controller could be looking for wheel movement confirmation, not getting it and shutting down. Install this sensor before going further.

I thought the sensor was only to give Road speed but I will try it

I did fit the sensor but it made no difference
