Here is my Globe Carmel. Comfort bikes tend to suit me the best. I love to tool around on neighborhood streets, ride to breakfast, and occassionally to work. Also, I take 'em with me on the RV to state parks and dog shows. I think the long wheel base bikes provide the best ride, especially if they have some suspension. I tend to go for stealth too, with clean lines and "not too obvious" ebike appointments.

This bike is a pleasure to ride. Smooth and stable. I love the front disc, an Avid BB7. The fenders are SKG commuter. The V2 has plenty of torque for me at 48 volts. The battery is a Juiced Rider 15ah LiFePo and sits in a Sunlite bag on the rack. I'm running a Topeak rack, but Topeak didn't have a bag that would fit my battery. So, I bought one anyway to rob the slide-on track off it. I installed the slide on a Sunlite bag, which works nicely. The Topeak bag is a bit nicer, but if it doesn't fit, well, it doesn't fit. The Sunlight is about an inch longer, which was long enough for the battery to fit. Other things I've added are Big Apple tires, Cycle Analyst, 35A Infinion controller, crystalyte cruise control.

i really gotta know.

from your avatar image.

do you wear your motorcycle goggles and that wool jacket and pipe in your mouth while piloting the RVship in the background? that's gotta impress the locals.

nice bike, don't they call that a hybrid? no need to be stealthy. be proud to be juiced.

you are way ahead of the crowd down there i bet.

LOL!! Well dnmun, not yet...... but now that you've given me the idea . . .
All my neighbors already think I'm eccentric. That ought to really set their tongues wagging. I live in an old neighborhood and most of the people here are 70 -80 year old widows. Do you remember Gladys Kravitz from Bewitched? She was always watching the neighbors out a window and yelling to her husband "Abner, come quick". That's my neighborhood.

Thanks for the comments on the bike. If only there were a crowd of ebikers here "to be ahead of". I think the idea of ebikes is only beginning to take shape here. So far, the only other person in the area (that I know) is icecube57. We ride together frequently. As far as my avatar . . . that's not really me. It's a guy from the UK participating in a recent vintage bike ride in downtown London. I loved the pic and it suits my eccentric reputation. I will tell you this ---- I was shocked when I saw it. He's pretty much my identical twin. He looks exactly like me 20 lbs ago. Perhaps we're related, as I am a decendent of a rather famous family on the island. Does the name Catesby ring a bell?

I think i shall pick this thread up since the bike has changed owners to me. DervAtl gave me a great deal on the bike. It was pretty much ready to ride. I had a small issue with the 48v 10AH pack that came included with the bike and I got it sorted out to where its giving full capacity and a little extra. My first initial rides on the BMC V2T at 48v 20A. The bike was pretty anemic. I thought it came paired with a 35A controller but it was a Crystalyte 24v-72v 20A controller. First order of business I soldered up the shunt a little to where it was giving me more amps 30-40A. That went a long way and the bike felt solid but still didnt have the torque I expected. I sold the battery pack to a member on the forum to where I hope it has a happy life. I then proceeded to give it a battery upgrade. I went from the 500wh pack to a 1.5kwh pack. Im currently assembling a 66v 20AH pack. It will be composed of (6) 22.2v 10AH groups and I can mix and match the packs to give me different voltage combinations. This will give me a torque boost a slightly higher top in speed and by no means is this a hot rod but it will pull through any hill like a donkey on crack.

Battery pack is complete. I planned to run 44 or 66v 10AH for short runs and run double that for long trips. I have (6) 6s 22.2V sections They main outputs on the sub sections have been crimped together and the balance taps are joined by 2 to 1 cables. All of the packs have been capacity tested and all deliver atleast 5AH. I may not use the whole pack on my exploits but im going to have a carefree time trying and have a peace of mind knowing if I act sane this pack could probably take me 100 miles.

Im using premade 6 to 1 Parallel Charge cable to parallel the main leads on the pack groups and another 6 to 1 jst-xh Parallel Balance Lead Charge cable to parallel all the pack to look like 1 big cell. I charge this 6s 60AH battery at 25A on the I charger. It should take about 2.5 Hrs to charge an empty pack

Ok so Ive kinda made this bike my own and opened her up a bit performance wise. The original bike was 48v with a 10AH battery with a 20A controller. I made a lipo pack thats 66v 20AH 75.6v off the charger. It has pretty good performance. I dont feel that the motor is even breaking a sweat. Im getting used to keeping the cycle analyst limited around 10-20A depending on what im doing but its even taking 40A for extended periods like a champ and barely warming up. Its not really about speed this year its about low speed and low end torque. Although i can get up to 35mph if needed. Its no cromotor but it can tackling the hills in my neighborhood where ive previous fried other mothers and remains cool to luke warm VS the hot smoking 9Cs ive ran at 3x the power to get the same hill climbing performance.

Right now the bike even though it is a geared motor its not efficient as i would like as far as wh/mi while pedaling along with the motor. Im currently in the low to mids 20s. when cruising at 20mph. I feel i need to change the gearing on the bike a bit. The front chainring has been upgraded by the previous owner. I feel i need an 11 tooth rear to make a little bit of resistance when cruising at 20mph. I would even loved to upgrade to a single front chainring but i think it takes away from the stock look of the bike.

While trying to ride with a friend a few weeks ago my bike rack fell off the car while backing out of my drive way. No major damage done to my bike except the fender was scratched and the mount broke off. I glued and fixed the mount and after playing around and painting and sanding and painting again I finally got a decent layer of pain to stick to the fender. I feel that i will never be able to get that glossy finish like it was originally but it barely noticeable unless you look at the details but Im glad it back on there cause i could have used it on that 50 mile ride the other day. The puddles and mud were no fun.

I bought some small hardcase panniers. I was going to use them to put 4 turnigy 6s 5AH packs in for a pack that will always stay on the bike and never come off. The measurements are wrong and the packs didnt fit. But they do perfectly fit the 4s 5AH hardcase packs. This will give me a 15-20m range on on a full discharge and this will be a pack that i will beat up on on a regular basis to keep cycles off my big 1.5kwh pack.

Im also considering a frame bag of some sort but since i transport my bike it cant interfere with the top tube area too much cause thats where my bike hangs on my bike rack of my car. I dont want to fiddle around or a remove a bag every time i ride. Right now im loving the MTX slide lock rack its pretty straigh forward and it beats having to secure 4-6 velcro straps to a rack. Just slide lock plug and go. It has reduced my battery setup time by several minutes.

I want to also get my pack converted over to one of my 1 plug anderson cables so i can parallel bulk charge. Im still have less than 5 cycles on these packs. Once i get above 10 and everything is good I need to make a harness up to where i can just plug in 1 cable and charge instead of breaking down my entire pack out of series so i can parallel charge on my bench at home.

Ill post some pictures tomorrow to explain my rambling. Anyways GN ES and thanks for all your support with my business.
