My PUSH TRAILER

Hi Dave
I am jealous of your skillz :)
Three points:
Why one wheel, not two (thinking stability when stopped)?
I see sometimes you may have (salty?) slush in your town. I plan a charge plug higher up out of the muck...
Does it cut grass also (can it be designed to serve any other purposes as well aka portable power pack)?

Lowes and Home Depot sell a small MIG welder for under $400.......it works great! I've been welding for many years, but it's not that hard to learn. Pactice, Practice, Practice.

Uh oh. I wish you hadn't told me that.

Yes, of course the seat post mount swivels side to side and up and down.....a universal joint, if you will.

One wheel was a must for me..... Less friction, narrow track, and it handles great! You really don't feel much of anything behind you.
The center of gravity is so low that stopping and low speed handling is uneffected actually.

No salt on the roads here, and really very little snow. But, I'm a fair weather rider anyway.
This thing is for taking picnics out and for grabbing some groceries now and then.....at least for me.

The next version is far simplier. It will still require some welding, but I doubt the welding cost would be more than $40 at most shops.
It will have a collapsible cargo basket for a deck and the batteries and controller will sandwich between the deck and a sub-floor.......much simpler than this one.
The plan set will be done in a few weeks and sell for about $20. It will show everything, list sources, and leave nothing to figure out. It can be built as a straight tow trailer as well.

This thing is great!
A very good job.
But I can think of 2 improvements:

- A fender for the wheel.
I just come back from a ride in the rain with my push trailer, and everything would be messed up without one.
But I guess you do not ride in the rain anyways, judging from your bike ;)

- A kind of "box" around the wheel at the front side and at the sides. This will prevent the luggage from coming into contact with the spinning wheel.

Have fun!

I have moved on to a new design that will allow simpler construction for my published plans and future kits..

So, the unit pictures above is for sale! I will sell it without batteries or drive unit.
In otherwards, the complete 'Trailer' assembly only. It can be used as an unpowered, straight towing unit as well.
I'll throw in a wheel, new tire, and tube.
Price: $175.00 plus shipping.
This thing works great and will accomodate four 10amp SLA batteries max, or whatever Nicad, or Lithiums you care to use.

I'm in Colorado Springs, CO. USA
