I am looking for some advice. I want to take out the 12 Volt battery on my Honda CBR-1000RR motorcycle and replace it with a Lithium Polymer battery to save weight and space. Which battery should I go with?

None.

Lipo is way to voltage sensitive, and you couldn't just hook it up to the alternator. The first time the alternator blew a rectifier, the batteries would get over charged and go up like a road flare

But LiFePO4 might work. They're far more stable and don't tend to burn when provoked. I think A small pack of A123 would be perfect for this.

+1 on Drunkskunk's comment. A123 would be better choice due so compact size and You could get LiFePO4 Headway battery pack. They do have 12v Headway battery for vehicle but not sure about the motorcycle's size battery.

Doesn't elite power sell a 12v 20 ah lifepo4 in a hard case that is pretty much designed for a motorcycle?
