New BBSHD axle drag

Just unpacked the BBSHD and it seems to have considerable drag/resistance with rubbing noise. Is that normal? TSDZ2 also had a bit of drag at the begging but then it reduced a bit after breaking in. BBSHD seems to have a lot more.
Haven't found anyone else complaining about it immediately after unpacking, only after pedalling.

Not sure what your rubbing sound is. That could indicate a problem. When pedaling unpowered, the big gear is engaging a smaller drive gear that has a freewheel. With new grease, this may cause significant drag. My guess is after riding a while, the grease will settle in and the drag will be less.

I'm about to put a Lekkie 40t pro hd gear cover on it, so I will check how freely the small pinion gear spins.
Not sure about contacting the seller at this time since it might loosen up after a while.

Perhaps if it has bearing or shaft seals on it, they might be tightly fitting and cause friction (and some kind of noise). If so they'll likely wear-in eventually.

Don't know how stiff should the sprag clutch on a nylon gear should be. When judging by turning the pineon gear it's harder to turn than TSDZ2 and there is a bit of a metallic grinding noise.

Seems like there is some uneven rubbing sound coming from nylon gear sprag clutch.

Turns out tightening the Lekkie cover M5 bolts to specified 6Nm torque increases freewheel resistance. It might be due to load on a thrust bearing.
Currently left the bolts at 2Nm torque.

The drag probably was due to metal shavings left in the bearing bore of pinion gear bearing resulting in misalignment and notchy bearing.
The bearing bore might be out of round now since I couldn't align the new FAG bearing properly. It's seems to have normal smooth drag now but for how long since the bearing bore roundness affects the long term operation of the bearing.
