I needed to replace a 1000 rear hub motor on my fat tire Mt bike and yesterday a new motor arrived from the factory. The side with the gears fits right perfectly in, but the side with the brake rotor and motor cable barely has enough space to even install the axle nut by itself. Forget about washers....

You're saying the axle is too short on the brake side? Have you measured the length on both the old and new one?

Are there any washers between the frame and motor that can be replaced with thinner parts. and still keep enough clearance for the rotor?

Is the motor a factory-approved replacement?

You got a hydraulic jack? 😀
Fat tire dropouts are supposed to be 155mm.
Also, washers can be thinned with a grinder. That gets dicey.

pics of the failed install would help!

it's unclear what the specific problem is from your description; please post a picture of the issue.

the dscription could mean the axle is too short or the frame design doesn't have space for the parts or parts are too thick, or...etc.

good clear well-lit in-focus closeup pictures of the parts and the problem(s) will help us help you find a solution.

Yes I did measure them and the replacement motors axle is 1 1/8 shorter than the one that fits.

The factory is where it Was shipped from.

OK then, to me it is obvious-- they shipped you the wrong part (motor). You need to document the difference in axle length and show it to them in order for them to ship you the correct replacement part.
