Got this tidbit from one of Noria's magazines, looks like induction motors get better eff with copper rotors. neat, eh?

Cool but now I have this craving for corn on the cob.

Interesting how they claim reduced weight, even though copper is more dense than aluminum. Perhaps the rotor (and subsequently the rest of the motor) can be made smaller for the same horsepower?

i hope they start producing the motor in mas numbers soon so it will drive up the demand for copper because i recycle metals from tv's and computer monitors and i would love to be able to get more money.

of course it will also result in more metal thefts too.

^^^ I've read some pretty good work is actually going on with recycling aluminum into some stronger hi-temp aluminum alloys to be used for motor windings, etc, that will achieve similar conductivity to copper, but at 1/2 the weight. Specifically for electric cars in the future. As a result, I wouldn't necessarily count on the copper industry being the prime driver in motor tech for automobiles to be long term.

You may get off with a few quick bucks over the next few years though.
