So I took the plunge and bought one of those standing-kick-scooters with brushless motor and 1500w 20ah lithium battery. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/171732317273)
I've had several of these, but this will be the best of them so far. Decided to buy this for transportation now, then start the slow process of planning and building something in the near future.

My big question is about battery management. As far as I an tell this is all non-balanced battery charging. Its all sealed up, and I am hesitant to bust open stuff, but I want to tend to these batteries with the love and dedication they deserve.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to monitor, charge and protect this investment?

I would really like a digital display that gives a LOT more information than the three silly LEDs on the handlebars. Any suggestions for something like that? One of my concerns is how to wire in such a display... but I'd love one that has speed and distance info, as well as amp hours voltage and other info.

Thanks for your help!

I want something like THIS: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cycle-Analyst-V-2-3-v2-3-CA-Computer-Diagnostic-Electric-Bicycle-Scooter-E-bike-/181584654320

But I am unsure how it will wire up, and in the past both my scooters and the other electronics were lacking when it came to wiring diagrams and electrical documentation.

there are no pictures, no info, no idea of what you have so how can anyone offer advice?
dnmun are the links I provided not showing up? I linked to what I just purchased and described it... I am looking for a battery management computer that will help me track allthings battery + speed + distance. And I linked to one that caught my eye on evilBay.

Please let me know if the links are not showing up. I can see them, and it would be odd if no one else could. ♥

Thanks!

Posting only links in lieu of pics seems odd, IMO. And I dunno why anybody would pay $150 for a 2.3 CA DP when you can buy them from the “maker” for $120. Not gonna be $30 shipping from Grin:

I don’t get the $1400 scooter either. Nothing special from what I can see/tell.

Philosopher, look for ideas in vulyone's posts and Youtube videos. He has scooters more or less like yours and uses a Cycle Analyst on one and an RC Watt Meter/Power Analyzer on another. How to wire it up? It would help people here if you posted detailed photos of the controller and battery under the deck like at 1:40 on in the second video below.

examples of his Youtube videos:

I bought 2 of those off CL yesterday for 70 bucks. Batteries dead so worthless to most people.

put in some 12s zippy packs and worked fine.

Same model just does not have the turn signals.

When I was pricing these it seems like you can get them new for 600 around. Does not include lights , but I don't think that
justifies the price tag.

I'd like to see some links. I felt like I shopped extensively for weeks and was not able to find any. There are several $600 ones, but they have brushed motors and Lead Acid batteries.
As far as I can tell, this is the only Lithium standing kick scooter out there that goes 30mph with an advertised 40 mile range.

I'd LOVE, love ,love to see others if they are out there.

You are right about lead vs lithium tho that is easy to swap. Otherwise the scooters seem to have the same body.

I drove the scooter around last night I picked up and id guess it was low 20's , but honestly id be hesitant to go much faster.
Seemed more stable standing up then sitting. Be curious how 30mph felt.

Still as long as it makes you happy that's what matters.

Thanks Mark. I have stumbled across his videos before. They're pretty neat. Thanks for sharing so I can have several all at once.

your e-scooter is mostly called "lithium" with regards to his battery, such battery should have an integrated BMS
( don't you have a separate charging port that is not the main leads)

as far as display is concerned, you might find interresting that following device :

Thank you, made_in_the_alps_legacy.
That looks like a good power analyzer unit.

Hopefully my scooter will arrive today and I'll have a chance to look at the controller. I'll be sure ro pit some pics.
