So hi guys, I just registered on this board and I've already seen some really really cool stuff on here

I want to built an electric bike as well.

Where I live it's flat almost everywhere, so that's good^^

I want my bike to look seamless but it should still have a lot of power.

I want to deploy the batteries like that:

I don't know what kind of bike I will use, but probably something like a mountain bike because I think that quite high speeds will make suspension and good brakes a must have.

I want to use a pressure sensor like this to accelerate the bike.

Like that I could use my Index finger to accelerate.
the sensor could be deployed under the rubber

This would look very stealth and would offer an awesome experience; jump on, put pressure to your index finger and fly

But I have honestly no clue what kind of batteries I should use and how they work.

That would only make like 700 watts right?

Is there some kind of batteries or power packs that you would recommend for my purposes?

Is it possible at all to get some range (like 40km) and speed (like 70 kmh) and a good acceleration like this?

With what kind of volt and Ah output should I even supply this motor?

I know all this seems like really really messy, but sometimes I just need people to help me and get my plan straight^^

Hmmmm............welcome to E-S, Lyo. 70km/h is a motorcycle and needs a very large battery. The cells would not fit in bike tubes. Perhaps read a bit first and then revise your plan. That motor that you chose is a lot of money. There are a number of much cheaper ones that can do a credible job of powering and E-bike. Your chosen speed is way beyond legal for a bike, even an electric one.

The tradeoffs

You always have to trade off acceleration for top speed right?

Because..

high voltage/low ah's = high speed / low acceleration(torque)

high ah's/low voltage = high acceleration(torque) / slow max speed

crudely put but basically right, right? :|

Setting 1:
When I connect them in series like this:
37 V 12,5 Ah
37 V 12,5 Ah

II 74 V 12,5 Ah II


Setting 2:
When I connect them parallel:

37 V 12,5 Ah --- 37 V 12,5 Ah = II 37 V 25 Ah II

Setting 1:
high speed/low torque

Setting 2:
high torque/low speed


Now what setting would drain the batteries faster? If I used the motor I mentioned in the first post

I'm kinda confused actually, since when do you guys care for legality? xD

Some ppl here are going like 100 km/h I don't think that this would be legal anywhere on this planet :lol:

I am embarking on my own high-speed ebike project, and due to my limited experience and budget, have opted to go with the following: (the frame choice & swing arm may be a bit more difficult for you to source in Germany, but could be substituted with a Decent FS Downhill frame...)

The Frame: Walmart (Yes, I know it sounds ghetto) Genesis V2100 Frame http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Genesis-V2100-Mountain-Bike-Dual-Suspension-Men-s-Bike/22899847
Only use the Frame from this bike...
Change out the Rear Swing arm for a "Farfle Swing Arm" http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34939&hilit=farfle+swing+arm
Upgrade all the other components on the Genesis Frame, including Rear Shock, Front Forks, Wheels & Rims, Mechanical or Hydro Disk brakes, Wider Bottom bracket to clear the Farfle swing arm, better cranks, high-quality group set. I'd probably go with a 16T single rear sprocket as opposed to a 7Sp+ cassette, because, depending on the hub motor you go with, you probably will not have the room, and quite frankly you won't be pedaling much anyways...

Controller options:
1. Infineon 12FET or 18FET IRFB4110 controller. em3ev.com and lyen.com sell versions. Good for up to 100V Max. (24S LiPo)

3. research Modding traces & shunts if you want to get more current out of these controllers.

Batteries:
If you plan on pulling 50A or more from your batteries, you will be limited to high-power 18650 cell builds like the Samsung 25R in large size batteries (15Ah+) or RC LiPo batteries. the 18650 Cell type is the safer of the two, but also more expensive up front.

RC LiPo is what many guys on ES use, although it is much more dangerous. Hobbyking is probably where you want to buy your LiPo, and they just came out with some massive "Multistar" 10Ah & 16Ah packs:

RC LiPo should be treated like you would treat a stick of Dynamite. You take very good care of it, always keep it balanced and never charge or discharge it beyond it's design limits, and preferably between 4.15V/cell charge, 3.6V/cell discharge, and charge it in a place you would build a fire, like a fireplace or BBQ. If you are careful with LiPo, they are the most powerful batteries you can get right now, and are very reasonably priced. They do not have as long of cycle life as other chemistries, however.

From there, the sky is the limit...

Do you know at what speed these kind of motors draw the least energy per kilometer/mile?

It's 18 kilometers or 11 miles to my school, so the e-bike could be awesome for this problem as well.
