I ordered a few of these connectors . They seem to work great. I am putting them on both the primary wires and the charging wires. http://catalog.tycoelectronics.com/AMP/GeneralInfo/3pgi1a.jpg

They were quite reasonablly priced at http://www.newark.com/
The housings are genderless, come in many colors and you can order the contacts to fit different wire sizes. The standard is 8 gage but you can get 10-12 gage contacts for pennies.

I actually liked the way charge wires turn to dust when they short. A good fuse is welcome near your battery, you know already.

Welcome to the wonderful world of " Anderson Powerpoles !! "

I use the PP30 and PP45 on everything in my house... buy them by the 100 !

I wish I had known that before my box was sent. I can't find anything down here, and I get lost shopping thru places like Newark, because I don't know what it is that I need.

I went 'round in circles on sourcing Andersons at first, too, John.

I dunno how these guys compare (pricewise) to other locations, but I've always ordered mine from PowerWerx. (http://www.powerwerx.com). I believe they're in Ohio, and even with shipping to Canada, they're fast and friendly - and their website makes sense...

It would seen that the Tyco AMP connectors that I posted about are a ripoff of the Andersons. They look almost identical. Hopefully the quality will be comparable. If so the Tyco line at Newark looks like a better deal. The newark web page is not that friendly but I think I got 4 housings plus the 8 contacts for about $20.
