I think this might have been posted, but it is so slick it must be worth a second glance?

Bosch drive, Pinion 8 speed and one of the best down hill frames, msut be gettting close to optimal given todays technology?

Of course it could use more power and a bigger battery but it is all about balance and this looks pretty sweet to me for the street legal EU category.

I would love to take one for a test thrashing!

Sorry Miles, I must be getting confused, I thought I was looking at a combined unit, gearbox and motor....

I incorrectly assumed Pinion was teaming with the Bosch drive, my bad. Thank you for putting me straight, I guess that was wishful thinking on my part or vision.

I was following the link to the frame producers pinion sell to and ended up at Nicolai. They should bolt on the 8 speed motor to the Nicolai DH frame!

According to this link that frame does have a Bosch drive unit...so what is it...Bosch or Pinion?

Yes, Bosch.

The Pinion 8 speed motor unit is not yet available.

Nicolai use the 18 speed Pinion gearbox on another model (non-assist).

Hi guys

Yes it's a Bosch and it's an awesome frame (as usual for Nicolai) and as Miles says, no doubt Nicolai will be one of the firsts to build a frame around the pinion-motor........in fact I think their project It's at least ready, if not yet prototyped.... 8).
For what I know pinion is mostly taking time for the battery side of the project and the possibly evolving E-bike rules for EU......

I've posted here some pics of the Nicolai with most available drive (pinion, bosch, shlumpf...) and some pics-specs of the pinionmotor at Last Eurobike: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=31195&start=30#p456973

The problem for this kind of machines, I think, besides any E-side comment, is that the overall cost still remain in the High End motorbike range...........however, if not for power limits, that's not so far from what these bikes are, actually.... :D

Cheers

Jules

Its my understanding that the Bosch unit is available now for street-legal power-limited systems, and Nicolai has partnered with pinion to make the E1.8 drive available soon (but no hard date yet).
