Novara Fusion a good candidate for a mid-drive conversion?

Newbie to these forums, so thank you for the advice!

I've had an off the shelf ebike for 6 years now (http://www.motobuys.com/emoto-daytona.html if you're curious), and some of the key components are starting to fail after several thousand miles of hard use in coastal California. I'm planning to use a BBS02 mid-drive conversion kit for my replacement.

I have my old pre-ebike commuter, a Novara Fusion (https://www.rei.com/product/744803/novara-fusion-bike). Its weight will be less of an issue with pedal assist, and I'd love an IGH, plus fenders and rack are necessary additions to any bike I'll be commuting with. I'm concerned about the brakes mostly.

Any opinions on converting my old Fusion? From what I can look up, it's physically compatible with the BBS02 (chime in if I'm wrong).

I don't see an issue with that frame. IGH might break with too much torque but BBS02 should be OK.

Have a BBS02 with Nexus IGH, very nice combo so far.
Re the brakes. I like Shimano's roller brakes, have had good experiences with them on regular bikes at pedal bike speeds. But I find it almost impossible to really keep speed down to pedal bike level when riding electric, and I'm not completely confident about their emergency stopping power from higher speeds. So I'm not using them on electrics. Tried one for a while on an electric, but changed it out for standard V-brake.
Think if I were you, I'd try the conversion and see whether it meets your needs. If not... you can move the BBS02 system to a different bike with different brakes.

Since you have the bike, go for it. if it needs better brakes, put a fork that allows a disc or rim brake on it.

Thank you, everyone! I especially appreciate the personal experience with this style of brakes and e-bike speeds. I'll keep an eye out for more comments here, but seems worth moving forward with the conversion :)
