oxelo klick "smart" scooter

Also, since it maintains speed automatically by kicking it is considered as an "electrically assisted vehicle " (like an Ebike) so it is LEGAL in France.

Great idea, but except from the upside of making it legal, I think a normal hand throttle would be still better for a scooter and less hassle. However, will this make a skateboard with only 'assisting' function legal as well? I think I remember the guys from Kickr thinking about something alike, would be great.

I agree with Furp that a regular throttle will be more convenient ... however, it's the first attempt from our (french) legislative system to integrate electric personal transportation into their old car/motobike/bike way of thinking...considering how conservative they are, it probably took all the lobbying power of Oxelo/Decathlon to succeed.
Even more irrational, legally, you can now use a throttle at less than 5 km/h on sidewalk... but then you have to be under pedal/kick assistance on bikelanes (below 25 km/h)... va comprendre, Charles !

Dear Flexscoot, do you know anything about this Oxelo Klick being available for sale? When is it going to be released?

The date of launch has been postponed many times in the last year.
Last info : Klick scooter will be available begining of 2015 at 600 Euros. 1 year late and 30% increase !!

I don't know the full story ( Decathlon is normally much more professional and I imagine that some head rolled) but it remind us that innovative product development is never simple.

Not sure how well the oxelo klick "smart" scooter would sell in the USA. Not many here that would want to kick scoot to keep it going. We do not have those French laws here in the USA. Most e-scooter riders here want to ride without ever putting their foot down.

When you kick scoot, you’re really taking up a lot of room on the side of a road or on a side walk.

Great exercise though

You should not focus on the "kick assistance" as it is just a trick to be legally considered as an electric bike. By the time it will be launched, it might have a trottle too (the law is evolving quite fast). In fact, the delay is maybe linked to this legal issue

From what I have heard, the "kick assistance" is quite generous and you just need to kick once in a while to keep the speed (some even say that simply balancing the legs quickly w/o touching ground activate the motor).

The main advantage of Oxelo/decathlon in Europe will be for after sales service as they have a large network of shops and a solid reputation to replace deffective items without discussion
