Phaserunner V6 Error - Analog Brake Voltage Out of Range

I can't find any other reference to this, so I'll make a new post.

I've got a new Phaserunner v6 connected headless to an MXUS GDR19-FAT with a Domino throttle and nothing else, using a Grin-supplied Main 9 to throttle/brake/light cable. The brake and light connectors on the cable are not connected to anything.

Generally, it works great. Once I give it full throttle, though, it cuts power to the motor and the controller stays on. On the PR Suite Dashboard, I see "Faults2[15]: Analog brake voltage out of range (flash code 4, 8)" This appears once I hit 97% throttle.

Clearly, I'm not using regen; this is a geared motor and can't do it. I also don't have brake sensors connected. I'm using the following settings for throttle and brake:

Throttle Start Voltage: 0.1V
Throttle Max Voltage: 5.0V
Throttle Deadband Threshold: .1V
Throttle Fault Range: 0.2V
Brake Start Voltage: 0.85V
Brake Max Voltage: 0.1V

I've also tried setting the Throttle Max to 4.5V, but get the same behavior. I've tried setting the Brake voltages to all sorts of things with no change, ranging from 0 to 5V.

Does your cable setup have the analog brake and throttle on the same wire? There are some versions of some PR cabling that do this so that you can use your throttle as a braking control. I don't know if it's still built that way.

If so, since you're not using the braking function, perhaps you should set the braking range to 0.0v on start and end, and use the entire range for your throttle (minus whatever you require for deadband).


Or you could disconnect the analog brake input wire from the throttle wire, and just ground the analog brake wire so it can't float and get a voltage on it giving spurious behaviors.
 
Thanks amberwolf. I had already tried setting the brake values to 0V and anything else within the 5V throttle range to no effect.

I bought the cable from Grin, and it has a separate connector for brake switches, but this behavior stems from PR wanting to apply the brake when throttle is low.

I also reached out to Grin and got this response:

Hi David, increase your "Analog brake fault range" at address 1953

A quick visit to the Dev Screen and I entered that address. The previous value was 4.0, so I changed it to 5.0 and no longer get the fault! Thanks to Justin as well for a prompt reply!

So, for anyone else using a Domino throttle with the Phaserunner, and presumably Baserunner, go to address 1953 in the Dev Screen and change your Analog brake fault range to 5.0.

Maybe we can save someone a headache in the future with this post.
