Came across this while surfing around
http://burro-zvobikes.com/bikedetails.html Machine x
This is an interesting alternative to the hub motor, a mid-mount motor that has a rear hub with 8 auto speeds- Even
Randy might acknowledge this as something worth looking at, though
it looks like it sucks amps pretty good.
Wonder if anyone on this forum has tried one of these bikes, looks
interesting and apparently they have kits to modify your own bike.

That looks like a pretty good system, ebike legal and all. I have to question the claimed 11.6Wh/km figure though... sounds like some slow speeds with pedal assist.

Are you saying the Speed & Power calculator is incorrect? If so, please explain why.
No Just YOU are WRONG.

Some one suggested 400 watts to go 12 MPH up this volcano on a 250 lb bike.. That person is totaly off his rocker. A 400 watt motor would burn up carrying a child up a few miles up on a 50 lb bike at 12 mph.

Well if you agree the speed and power calculator to be correct, your previous statement of the power requirement must be incorrect. Care to explain your contradiction?

The purpose of entering the cycletothesun race was ONLY to get documented by the race crew.
I know. I believe you. But that is not the impression the cyclists or spectators would have had.

I don't believe it.
The business about sitting at the edge of the crater while he waits for a handful of cyclists to pass by seems contrived & rather melodramatic.
Especially when he said the batts still had enuf juice at the end that he drove around for another 30 minutes??

Don't wish to highjack Randy's thread cuz I know he'd never do anything like that, but since this is a body without a head I have a question about the suspension on Randy's volcano burner.

:?: Why is it that only Huffy's champions that style of swingarm?

Is there some inherent shortcoming to that design so that no one else (from what I've seen) makes something like it?
I know nothing of suspensions, but other than it looks rather heavy to be on a bike propelled by muscle only, I would think it should be alright with a motor.
Limited travel? Is the pivot too far forward? Too high up? Both?

If I answered you You wouldn't beleive it anyway so go ask someone else.

I remember why Randy stopped his batteries went flat he explained that on PA at the time, he stopped waited until the batteries came up a bit, I think this is correct.

Oh and yes that ZVO is basically a production version of what Randy has done so somebody has already beaten him to it, those ZVO bikes have been around for a long time in various guises.

Randy continues to call people on here girl scouts for some reason I don't get it? I have a feeling he just does this to goad a response as nobody is interested in talking about his bike any more as it is as old as the volcano he is climbing with it.

So come on then Draper, that ZVO bike what's your opinion? wait for it!! oh and has your illegal e-bike been crushed yet? see that's the problem as well nobody can come to your island and road race with you coz they are illegal on the island now, maybe one of those lycra dudes in the cycle to the sun race pushed a few buttons??

If my off the shelf Currie was so bad why is it that it is still working 100% fine after 20,000 miles and WILL climb a 16% grade at 12mph no peddling in 90 deg temps without burning up?? I did this all last summer up sunrising hill which is 16%, no smoke no fire.

Have you ever seen a hub motor catch fire or smoke? if so please explain when and where and show me some pictures of it? you keep harping on and on about this but I have yet to see one and again the last one I saw was the burned lump that was essentially your motor that Ken Trough used, this is the most hilarious thing I think the only motor I can remember burning was yours!

People that live in glass houses should not throw stones Randy, ask Ken Trough what he thinks of your motor!! ha ha

So come Randy grow up and stop insulting people what are you like 60? or so now, I thought people mellowed in old age, is this why you dont peddle? trouble with the old knees! ha ha

I have been wondering the same thing about burned up motors. It seems the only one that anyone can remember is Ken's smoking disc. Can't make very big pancakes on that

I too have burned up can motors of various sizes, but I have yet to see a picture of a smoked hub motor.

The most recent report was safe's 750w unite.

Before that, was Reid's 250w unite

I'm rewinding a smoked 250w unite, but I didn't get the pleasure of burning it, I got it that way. :(

caught on tape: hub motor going up in smoke!!

Nice video! I gotta start tilting the bike to the side when doing burnouts to even out the tire wear.

EbikeMaui said:
Why do all the hub motor burnouts not show the guy lifting the heavy weight off the wheel as it spins :?:

Because you don't need to. Why don't you post a video of your best burnout?

Thats because the hubmotors have a controller that burns up first as the fuse.

EbikeMaui said:
Most of you guys are so lost in your heavy Chineese hubmotors that will NEVER make it up such a mountain on its own power before frying.

How can the motor fry if the controller supposedly burns up first?

Because it will not acomplish anything other than wasting a tire.

And climbing up hills then going back down is...?

Truth is your bike couldn't do anything resembling a burnout...
In your own words "Where is YOUR video?"

Randy said earlier - "... I stopped for 20 minutes 1/8 mile from the summit and 3 Marvac Team racers passed me as I was sitting down overlooking the creator..."

But in John 1:18, the apostle wrote: “No one has seen God at any time.â€￾

I'm really confused. :?

I B4 E, except in Maui. :)

Actually I was asking someone else because I already absolutely intimately know that talking to you is like pissing into the wind. The same thing only keeps coming back at you.

G'head, prove me wrong.

BTW when you quote someone you don't do a cut & paste job unless your looking for the same treatment.
