Razor RSF 650 QS 138 10kw beast build

I'm building a heavily modified Razor RSF650. I'm not starting with much only the main frame and console I could of easily just built the whole bike but what fun is that? I'd rather take a kids toy and make it a monster!

The plan
Razor RSF650 main frame extended down to build a more traditional style swing arm and mounting location for the controller and battery. Fully fabricated swing arm stretched 12". Rolling on Honda Grom 12" wheels and full hydro disk brakes and 220mm rotors. The front forks are Grom/ Monkey style aftermarket forks. Built for the dirt with Knobby tires shooting for a top speed of around 85mph to 90mph we will see how close it comes.

Power
QS 138 mid drive motor 428 drive chain, Votol EM150sp controller.
20s 17p 51AH Samsung 30Q 3000 mAh cells with a 150amp continuous BMS to start might build a bigger one later.

I'll post links and pricing of what it cost to build it as i move along. I'm just waiting on the motor and controller to come in next week and I can start fabricating.

I was checking out his build one of the ways I found this site pretty sweet bike. They are defiantly fun little bikes I can see more people modding them in the future as they age and pop up used. I just found another one on Market place for cheap with dead batteries I'll be building more mild street bike with the QS 1000W 90H mid drive and EM65 Votol Controller for my son.

What are your mods to that red mx500 in the background? Looks like that has the rs650 wheels and some kind of non stock front forks?

I did quite a bit to that one.
chopped it down 4" so my 6 year old could reach the ground.

Put on my RAF 650 wheels and knobby tires.
and a longer shock.

It's has the stock RSF650 motor over volted to 48v with a LI 21ah pack with a battery mount I made. It's has a top speed of 28mph on flat ground with a 50lb kid on it. It will be getting a QS 1000w motor in the next few weeks.

Been there, done that. Sorry to say messing with the rsf isn't worth it. I used an my1020 brushless setup on 64V nominal and 200A. It was a blast, but the suspension is sooo, so bad. The front brake bracket will bend and you'll smoke pads in no time. You really need scooter-style brakes for it, then a rear shock with actual damping and a higher rate. At that point, you realize the kinematics are horrendous. It is a good looking bike, but a ton of work to function well at that power. The chain tensioner was constantly giving me issues since I welded the rear sprocket to be able to run regen. I gave up and went to a pit bike chassis. I think your motor selection will destroy the thing.

I think I'll be okay none of what you mentioned will be on it still. Completely custom build only the main frame is being used it's going to be a totally different bike when I'm done with it.

Ah bummer, I see you put a new head tube on. I was going to ask what forks fit in the stock head tube.

Yeah nothing really fits the MX bikes it takes welding.

I pieced everything together for this bike no kits it's been about two months of just ordering parts and putting them together as they show up. The last piece is the motor and controller that's out for delivery today!

I got the front end mocked up last night. Sliced off the head with the band saw and laser cut a new head set out of .188" and .375" mild steel. It's stretched 1.5" with about 8 degrees more rake then stock.

Yeah it's pretty much done, I've been riding it around and changing things here and there playing with the ride height and suspension angles. It's a little rocket so far 78mph is my top speed but I ran out of road it had more in it. I swapped out to a larger rear sprocket for more low end torque and I'm getting 71mph on that same stretch of road but gets there way faster. Off the line it tries to pull out from under you as it's front heavy and the front end doesn't lift off the line easily, So you can really lay into it if the tire is warm. Weight wise It came in at 182lbs with the big 20s20p pack so far just cruising around I'm getting about 95miles between charges from 84v to 64v . I might shorten the swing arm a few inches to balance the weight more evenly, but so far it's a blast!

Once the DMV opens up for inspections I'll be registering it as a motorized cycle.

Here is a few shots of how it sits now. Once i'm don'e tinkering with it I'll rip it all apart and powder coat it.
