Re: Pchen's Giant DH Team Cromotor-Kelly

What kind of watts is it pulling steady at 50MPH flat ground not accelerating just cruising? Just curious...

I just checked the top speed once and I couldn't sustain it for long (red light).
I think it was around 6kW but I will check this weekend.

Hello all, pchen92 just tell me he burned is 24fets
Is there any protection inside these controller ?
Paul from Paris also burned his in another context, but ultimately it´s the same thing: too much amps and magic smoke !
I think it´s a controller worthly of Formule 1 (NASCAR) and the owner should know exactly what to do with that kind of explosive !
Perhaps too much voltage for both ?

Pas de protection malheureusement

2 months ago I burned my 24 fets in a very steep hill. I was close to 0 rpm so the controller haven't borne the phase Amps I think :(

A cap exploded and at least one fet is dead... I haven't the skills to repair it...
If someone in France or in the UK could help me :?

Thinking of getting a Kelly 8)

I made a video with a few shoot I have taken, here it is:

Check out my friend's Quantya running at 25kW http://youtu.be/9j4Q2bEvv-c

Let me know when you get a kelly.... i have the kbl96251...and its awesome in the sense that it has no trouble with whatever i give it, but i can't seem to work out the connection with a magura throttle. It's sort of an all or nothing response. Can't seem to cruise with it.

I received it. It's the KEB72101. But I don't have the wire for the connection right now. It seems everybody running with a magura have a problem with it and the Kelly. So I order a hall sensor throttle.
So I run with a rescue controller (KU93). At 1500W, and with 12 6s 5Ah I have a huge range :)

How the bike is atm :

Thx Dan I forget this.
So yesterday I tried the 36 combinations on the first set of halls with my friend. None seemed working.
And today I tried the combinations on the second set of halls. None seemed working neither.
So I try with the last motor I have, a GM 500W and I found the good combo ! :D So controller isn't bad.
But when I saw the wheel spinning, I remember I had programmed the throttle less touchy (so there is a little lag). Maybe that's why I didn't find any combinations with the Cromotor, I'm used to a very touchy throttle !
So I have to check all the combinations that I recorded "rough spinning". Tomorrow will be the day I hope 8)

mine is a monster ! still in the setups, tried 20s 8amp, 1h ride with killing hills ;)
but I can fix the shunt value in the ca, when I tried to put 0,5Mohan, it is locator 20,05. , for any value I can t remove the 20
...

first run with defaut 1 Rohm I hit 5800 Kw and I m only @ 70% of the batteries current but buzzer loc nipped @ 3.6 when full throttle and and the controller could stop cause I let the lvc @ 74v so when being 76v and ful throtle it cuted....but I could return with low amp..

I just came back after a short ride (10km) with my beast.

I will post the hall and phase combination for the Kelly later.

The Kelly was set at 30% motor and 35% battery if I remember. I don't have the CA connected right now but it seems to pull around 6kW. I had 1kwh of lipo (18s3p) in the falcon bag and nothing in the pelican. Acceleration was great, the front wheel didn't lift with these settings. But the first time I try it, it was 40% motor, 50% battery and the front wheel lifted.
I also set regen when throttle released (set @ 10%). Quite good, I use a lot less my brakes in town.

At low speed, the throttle is quite touchy (set @ 4). I use the throttle of Kelly. I don't like it. My Magura is much better, will try it later

I can't imagine running this controller at anything more than 80%  I weigh 60-65kg. The bike is 40kg. So roughly 235lbs :D

there is no internal shunt in the Kelly (maybe the small cheap compact one ...) but not the KEB ones...so
you have to connect it with an external shunt HV
CA_Shunt.jpg

or their external shunt solution

black blue white red corespond to the plug...

as shown on here http://ebikes.ca/store/store_CAV3.php

it's not that hard =), for if you wanna get the speed without the speedometer , you have to take one of hall signal and bring it to the CA
http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=48816&start=100
...cause there is no plug and play beetween CA et KElly...that the trouble but, after you deal with it, Doc recommand them as being pretty robust...

Cool video. As awesome as my DH Team is on 6kw I can't even imagine what 10kw would be like. I guess I'll find out next time.

Tom

be carefull at that speed you can get seriously injuries, arms....in fact it accelerate like a MX but it doesn't have the brake or at least the tires area to stop... take care in town....next step is a 19'' tire MX in a 20''
bike wheel ;)

Today I set the Kelly at 75% motor current and 60% battery current. My CA says 250 A  Calibration seems fairly good but I'll have to find a way to make it with more precision. The motor heats up way faster. I'll have to check the temperature after a 8km journey in town.

I was at a gathering at an airfield. This vehicle is powered with an Agni 111 @ 400A 100V but it has some stability issues when running more than 55mph...
