Hi guys
I use an RST RA130 Fork for my first MTB which is a great thing (best I've ever had). I'd have liked to use a RA 100 for my streetbike. So I bought one at the bay for 15bucks... sadly its a T version without oil damper: RST Launch T 2008
SO I read somewhere that inserting SAE15W20 might help, but it didn't. Took it apart, which was really simple, then I saw why it did no effect. The lower hole (about 16.5mm) in the tube is just too large compared to the bolt (10mm) that holds the whole thing together. The ring shape space in between lets the oil pass easily. So I thought, why not insert a spacer tube, that makes this ring shape space smaller and the bolt thicker. I bought a alloy tube that has 10mm inner and 15.5mm outer dia, so there should be just half a millimeter space left.
I also got rid of some plastic spacers I was not aware what they are good for. Without them it drives a lot better and the fork has more travel (about 86mm now)
Hope I can try this suspension mod on sunday, I have fork oil here atm (threw my old oil away, since I thought I had some new). I'll get new oil on sunday.
Any thoughts?
BTW, The RST Launch T, Dirt T, and Peak T 80/100/130 are all the same from inside
