So after installing my brand new BBSHD I noticed that there was an unexpected set of cables coming from the motor in addition to the battery cables, e-bus, speed sensor & gear sensor cables. I believe this is a 6v light connection.

I was wondering if it's possible to use some kind of converter to run a USB port from this output instead of (or better yet, in addition to) a light? Anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

Careful, 15 watts exceeds the 3 watt rating of the BBSHD light output.
