Samsung 25R/LG 18650HE2/ Sony VTC5 high power 18650 battery

I have finally completed my purchase of 80 Samsung 25R cells through supowerbattery. They should arrive while i am still in Honduras for a missions trip so as soon as i get back i will solder her up and i should have it ready to ride the same day to do some load testing for you guys. :D I will be back in two weeks from Honduras.

Is their anyone else selling these new 25R batteries in a ready made battery ? such as Em3ev ? the look awesome

If you don't mind mentioning, what sort of pricing did you end up getting through them? Sounds like I'm going to need at least 300 in the not-so-distant future.

No there are no packs made with these cells yet because they are so new pack builders have not made battery packs with them yet what I can say about the pricing of these batteries is that they were under $7 a cell. They gave me a special pricing because they saware i shared this information with endless sphere dot com and that is why I can't share the specific price that was given to me.

Thanks. Was their shipping reasonable?

I just read in another thread that they won't ship to Australia. Guess I'll need to go with someone else.

Looking forward to reading about your cell testing.

You are welcome :) and yes their shipping was very reasonable. It was around 60- 70 dollars.

they do indeed ship to Aus, but must contact Lillian direct, not via ebay site. try supowerbattery@gmail.com

i got a quote to ship 400cells last week, 170usd.

here are some 20R i got last sep.

I'm really excited for the new Sony US18650VTC5. I've been digging around trying to find the datasheets for a little bit. The US18650VTC4s are super long cycle life, according to their datasheet. If I can get more capacity with a similar cycle life, I'm all in at 2.6Ah.

I remember when the straight cobalt 1C cells were 2.4Ah and those were the bees knees in 2009.

They definitely know their stuff. I've had NO ISSUES WHATSOEVER with the cells I bought a while ago. They deliver the current and do not show much capacity decrease if you treat them right. My next pack is going to be made of the 25R or maybe panasonic 2.9AH since I don't need the 20amps per cell discharge for my next build.

I just asked Supower Battery (Lillian) and she stated that they could not ship packs larger than 2kg or about 35 cells max.

Is that just welded as a single pack? Can I still order a bunch of parallel stacks from them and ship via air?

Ebikebert: How did they ship, air?

I asked Lillian about that and got a very clear reply-

YES they can ship lots of paralelle strips, even up to 400cells(and possibly more) -cost to australia,170usd or so

as long as the paralelle strips are less than 2kg each.

looks like the regulation is regarding cells connected only, not total the number/weight in package

That's what I was thinking since some images/posts here indicate that they had large boxes of smaller modules shipped to them.

Question to guys in North America:

Would you prefer to buy these cells from a national redistributor at a 10% premium?

Benefits would include MUCH shorter ship times, better service guarantees, less risks, but cost would be 10% higher (shipped price). I'm trying to determine if becoming a pack/cell reseller is worth it. (Any input as to what you would change would be great)

Whats better a samsung 25r or a Sony Konion VTC5 2.6 amp hour cell ? has anyone compared then head to head ?

Yes, my battery pack will come in 4 seperate shippments. They cant exceed more than 2kg each. @ district9prawn be sure to tell us how you like your HE2 cells. @Gab these two cells are very new and as a result i can imagine no one has yet to purchase and test both, however you can always look at the spec. sheet and decide for yourself.

I just used the link to compare the sony V5 vs the 25R and to me they're very very similar. It all comes down to cost and cycle life since .1Ah isn't really much of a difference.

.15Ah to be more precise :) For cycle life it may be difficult to compare as datasheet for V5 defines it @10A discharge, for 25R it's @20 & 30A discharge.

The VTC5 is also charged @4A which is for the HE2 already the fast charge.
We would need someone who buys all three and makes ~100cycles with same conditions on them. To get comparable data.
