shimano bt-e6010 battery - controler questions

i have a bt-e6010 battery shimano thinking about buying another battery to replace it being i cant find a new battery to replace it and the battery i have will not charger i see there are 4 wires 2 battery + and - does anyone know what the other 2 wire are for

Shimano replaced that battery with the BT-E8016.....it's the same except higher capacity...and you have to change out the base due to it being longer.

Kinda pricy shimano stuff though.

ya i guess 850-1000 dollars i thought of putting in 2 dewalt 8ah 20 volt baterys in series but not sure how to buypass the extra 2 wires to the battery

If the extra wires beyond the large + and - wires are smaller signal wires that also connect to the controller, they are almost certainly communication wires, as E-HP stated above in Post #2. The communication is like a handshaking between the battery (BMS?) and controller to initiate power up.

To power up the controller (and thus run the motor) you will likely need the appropriate Shimano compatible battery that can complete a successful handshake. Or hack the communication protocol and inject it into the data stream. Do some searches as someone may have already hacked it?

How many wires does the charger have? It probably has to communicate with the battery also to initiate charging.

This is one of the major drawbacks to proprietary systems that many here advise against. The mfr. locks you into their system and the replacement parts are expensive, and can become NLA if the company folds or even forces an upgrade to a new platform.

Bought a aftermarket charger and adapter to charge the battery I am a electrician but not much knowledge in this part I took the battery apart and I only have 11 volts dc across the battery bank

Make sure you charge that pack outdoors away from anything flammable.

The charger also needs to communicate with the battery to charge. It cannot charge directly without communication, and forced charging will cause the battery BMS to lock up.
