I voted YES.

Did anybody else notice that Xyster left the building when the "Randts" started?

Coincidence?! Nah..

I would trade 100 Randy's for 1 Xyster!

-S

So conversely, 1 Xyster = about 100 Randy's ?

Crap, I had no idea I was THAT annoying!

As for coincidence....no not a coincidence. As for direct, causal relationship (Randy comes in and PO's Xyster so Xyster leaves), not that either. Due mostly to responses to Randy, which were mostly quite understandable and of which I was a part, E-S was becoming not fun. So to relieve myself the stress, I took a little vacation from my daily E-S vacation. :)

It was interesting though. I'm not sure if this is the same e-bike that he always uses, but with the race being 37 miles and the max slope only 15% grade (yeah I know, ONLY 15%) I'm fairly certain I could do the same race on my e-bike is record time given my physical condition. My e-bike has about a 60 mile range at 20 MPH, once the steep hills hit of course the range dies quickly, to only half. But given that the race is only 37 miles (which is really short compared to what I ride most of the week), I could give everyone a run for their money if I mixed in human and machine power.

I know that on battery power alone, I wouldn't get more than 20 miles before battery death since my motor isn't really even designed for the terrain. But... I see this as a great way to "compare". Since the next race is set for August 26th of this year. I found the official website at http://www.cycletothesun.net/ so I will contact them to see what they think.

I've always wanted to take a vacation to Hawaii, might be a good way to get vacation and work in at the same time

Well looks like the trip won't be a good idea, I got a response back from the event leader. It was worth a try though.

I'm sorry but no, it's not appropriate for this event. This is in no way a reflection on you or your bike but we realized we made an error in judgment by creating a special category for Randy in the earlier event. This event is designed to showcase an individual's ability as a competition between riders not their bikes.

Even though the winners had $8000. Bikes that weighed 10 lbs. or less.

That's the point -- the bikes were all very similar, so it was a competition of riders and not bikes. It doesn't matter how good the bikes are as long as they're similar.

Those were my thoughts as well, but I wasn't going to press the issue with them.
The main issue was Everyone was cheering me on since my time up to 9900 ft was 20 minutes faster than any lycra racer ever and they couldn't eat any the great food after the race.Half of them were puking.

I don't know why you're comparing yourself to the bicycle riders; you were motorized. I mean, a motorcycle would have been significantly faster.

I meant that in a qualitative sense, but ya' - if there were Xyster and Randy trading cards.. I think that the exchange rate would be about 1-100.

Anyway, glad to see you again, Xyster.

Randy, do you remember anything that you learned in kindergarten? If you don't want to share your ebike toys, fine.. you're free to do that.

If you think that you're free to continue attacking everybody else's ebike toy because it doesn't have one of your motors.. expect to be playing by (with) yourself.

Interesting topic.

On the Fine Wood Working forum (Taunton Press) or maybe Thumper Talk (single cylinder Motorbikes) it seems to me there is a button that allows one poster to ignore another poster if they so choose.

Would that be a possiblity with this forum? This puts the choice in the hands of the reader. Kind of a silent vote if you get my drift.

Any recommendations for my bike:

Yes, get one with a motor. Actually road bikes are highly individualized and we would encourage you to visit you bike dealer of choice to discuss your bike needs for this event. Once on Maui we would direct you to Frank Hackett at South Maui Bikes in Kihei for any of your race day or bike needs. He can be reached at 808-874-0068

The ONLY reason I entered the race was to get a offical time. I was NOT racing.I was just getting the record for the only electric vehicle to make it up a 10,000 ft mountain.pedaling or not.

I am NOT trying to get anyone to buy anything they
dont want. Most people don't know if they even 'want a ebike yet and if they do there are many options to explore, not just YOURS and the girl scout quire. Just getting the point across from usung a effecient system is all.Today I can buy motors that are as nearly efficient as the ones I made myself and work with them on slight modifications for any type of ebike or motorcycle project for a lot less hastle than making a few at a time. The cost is also well within reason for the best small, efficient, motor systems that YOU can buy at the best price per Kw and you get quality besides.
Your Welcome :) And enjoy your Girl Scouts playing with you.

Just so happens, I've found one for the rest of us in the states.

Six Gap ~ Three Gap Bike Ride

Six Gap Century and Three Gap Fifty Bike Ride September 30, 2007

The Dahlonega/Lumpkin County Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor the 19th annual Six Gap Century and Three Gap Fifty bike rides through the mountains. The Ride of Your Life! Follow the course of Champions.

The Six Gap Century

This ultra challenging route takes you up and down six of the steepest climbs in the North Georgia Mountains. Test your stamina with more than 10,700 feet of vertical climbing over the 100 mile course. Elevations for the six gaps in this ride range from 2,949 feet to 3,490 feet. The toughest climb, Hogpen Gap, will test even the strongest riders, averaging a 7% grade for seven miles, with sections as steep as 15%.

The Three Gap Fifty

This alternative route offers half the gaps and half the distance, but is nevertheless a demanding and challenging course. Elevations for the mountains on this ride range from 3,109 feet to 3,280 feet.

Ride and Course Details

The Six Gap Century & Three Gap Fifty begins at 7:30 Sunday Morning with a start in Dahlonega, Georgia, at Lumpkin County High School, about an hour north of Atlanta. There is plenty of parking, with overflow parking nearby if necessary, and restroom facilities and showers will be available. The ride is sagged for safety (no personal sags, please), and refreshments are provided at well-organized rest stops along the course. To ensure timely completion of the ride for all participants, Century riders must be through Jack's Gap 35 miles from start) by 11am. Cyclists reaching that point after 11am will be directed to the Three Gap Fifty course.

Look, you were asked point-blank, "Are you suggesting that I build something like the Insane-A-Cycle.." but you skipped on the opportunity to "Just get the point across.." and answer the damn question?!

Pretty lame lameness there, ebiker.

I don't understand why you are willing to alienate most everyone that might be inclined to listen to what you have to say.

It must be the unbearable weight of already knowing it all, eh?

OK, back to the original topic here.
It would appear that the majority of members don't want Randy banned outright. That said, there still needs to be a few rules here.

Here's what I suggest:

If Randy starts a topic, then he's entitled to flame anyone who posts there. If others don't like his comments, then don't read his threads.

On all other topics, good behavior is expected. This means comments should be somewhat related to the original topic (although we have a tendency to stray off course here). Inflamatory comments which are intended to piss people off will not be tolerated and may be deleted. Extremely off topic posts may also be deleted. I don't want to see pissing matches outside of Randy's threads.

Fair enough?

I personally don't have a problem with Randy and I'm capable of ignoring stupid posts by anyone. I just don't want to see arguments erupting in other threads as it starts to ruin the atmosphere of the forum.
