Considering Randy's superhuman ability to derail a thread, if you're willing to do a bit of coding, fechter, you can either prevent him from replying to existing threads (not created by him) or restrict his maximum number of replies to a very small number per day.

I agree he should have free reign over his own threads, though the number of these that he can create should be limited to one per day, or he'll keep creating new threads just to respond to comments made in others, probably.

Not suprising that most people cant make a motor mount. Also not too suprising the forum members that you mention will NOT EVOLVE from where they are at right now.

Evolve? Why would I want to downgrade my bike into a noisier, slower, higher maintenance machine?

There are people much more interested in the end results. This is a perfect example of 'buy it and ride'

Hi all
I can't see the point in banning him all he has to do is create a false identity then he would be able to carry on spreading his own brand of mayhem at least as randy we know from where the axe is falling.
Better the devil you know than a devil in desguise, so to speek.
An idea I have is to "send him to coventry" as is said in the UK this meens basicly ignore him, let him be as rude and ofensive as he likes, let him try to ruin any thred he likes just don't respond to his brand of ofensive postings only respond to the sort of comments this forum was started for.

Lets see how he likes the silent treatment it may work.

Randy if you see this let me say that from now on I for one will ignore you if you post anything in any thread I read, that is up to you normal standard.

The forum software has IP address checking, so multiple accounts will be easy to spot. Randy is more than welcome to contribute to the forum as long as he abides by Knightmb's posting guidelines and treats other members with respect.

Hi All

I personally don't have a problem with Randy and I'm capable of ignoring stupid posts by anyone. I just don't want to see arguments erupting in other threads as it starts to ruin the atmosphere of the forum.
What this meens IMHO is just ignore his taunting and he will stop.
There's no fun in taunting somone if they don't rise to the bait.
He's like a school bully he picks on the ones that will rise to his bait.

I agree that sending Randy to Coventry is the way to go. If that doesn't work then I say ban him. Yes I know it's harsh, he's entitled to his opinions, he comes up with the odd useful post etc, but overall his posts are a total pain and he ruins just about every thread he joins. There are people on this forum with a lot of knowledge and experience from which we can learn a great deal but having to wade through piles of crap to get to the useful bits is a pain. I believe Randy's posts are damaging to the effectiveness of the forum.
I'm new here so I don't know but is there an ignore feature on this forum so I can put Randy on my ignore list?

edit: I broke my vow not to get involved with this issue, and have rectified this by removing my post.

Apologies!

Sometimes, just sometimes, you get what you ask for. If you don't look fo Randy it's not all that easy to find him. Look and you will, don't and you won't.

If Randy threads are turning you off, don't look. There are lots of areas where no one even knows who is is except perhaps as a potentially antagonistic contributor. He is not everywhere, is not omnipotent and even though I don't know him I doubt if he cares. He does have his own agenda and that's fine but no one is worth all this controversy. We have others pushing the hub motor and even one guy pushing a kick scooter.

Me, I'm mostly trying to break 80 and not put road rash on my body. One day I'll open a thread and find the perfect battery, it'll be less than a thousand dollars and I'll begin my cross country ebike trip. Or cross county because my wife generally doesn't let me go anywhere overnight.

Lighten up. Life is good.
Mike

I've locked the poll because someone was creating junk accounts to vote up on it. I reset the poll data back to before the junk accounts were created. The poll has been up for a while and I'm sure everyone that visits here has cast their vote. As it stands, he won't be banned as long as we can avoid pages of flame wars in topics that start out simple enough. That being said, this doesn't give everyone the ability to take free jabs at him to try and stir him up.

We (being the people that donate their time to keep this forum going) are very open and relaxed here at the forum being that we are all adults for the most part :x

So let's keep the community thoughts and exchange open and leave the insults to the parking lot after school.

I wonder who that might have been?

xyster, I'm looking in your direction.

:D

I already know who actually, but I'm going to have a private conversation with them about it. So no finger pointing while I'm gone.

Wasn't me. That's not my way, Turbo. I do have a shred of self-respect you know! I voted one time to allow #@*&#$@*%@#$( Draper to stay. Now if there's ever a poll, "Should we ship Xyster a free hubmotor?" well then every last shred of self-respect would go right out the window. :D

No, I kinda knew as much.
I was playing to how you seem to get blamed for stuf not of your own doing.
Like how you became the first innocent casualty of this flame war, which I get the feeling precipitated your vacation.

Also knightmb never indicated which direction the vote was being spiked.

note polls closed and i was not able to vote

yes well, many brilliant people often don't have great people skills and can be abrasive... i've read many of his posts and he seems like he's not deluded into making due with crappy technologie applications - a true visionary and he has a great deal to teach us if we can coax him into revealing his knowledge.

don't be like the muslim ideologists and take offense at every gist and humorous jab at your crappy cookie cutter cubscout bikes!!

hee hee i'm just teasing you now

and no i'll never buy a hub motor bike unless it runs off internal hub gearing with more than 2 gears!
its a waste of power - like only having one gear on a car and supper reving it - you waste power and energy that way

the future is here if we ask for it and help create it.
so lets do it- hybrid geared hubs and central mounted motors.
ev frames designed for customizing and upgrading.

EbikeMaui and all the recent topics created from him are being locked. After a lot of discussion and polls, everyone here that volunteers their time to help with the forum has agreed to Ban him. As such, to prevent someone from taking advantage of this to take jabs at him in his created topics knowing he can't respond is the reason for locking them.
